    Hello!
Last Sunday I hooked up a trailer and got home her (photos taken after a quick wash):
    bandit_20250907_1.jpg bandit_20250907_2.jpg
The plan is to have 2 main phases:
    1. Start her and pass the official technical inspection, so I can use it on public roads
    2. Once having some experiences, take care of smaller/aesthetic problems, turning it into a nearly original, well running bike
I'll need a new set of tires, and the front is mentioned everywhere as 110/70R17, that's OK. But for the rear, I find 140/70R17 and 150/60R17 for the 250cc Bandits and I'm not sure which size to order? In case of a 30+ years bike I think I can't just order the same size the bike has now (but may be my last help if no clear info).

Starting: checked and cleaned the spark plugs, replaced fuel in the tank. As far as I can tell based on some diagrams in an other thread on the site, ignition order (coil - spark plug pairs) are OK and have spark. A quick check of the crabs shows no significant residue in them. However, a deep clean will be needed as it seems they don't take any fuel once the bowl is filled. I used a transparent hose to feed the crabs (tank not attached, end of hose just standig upwards), but the fuel level doesn't change while cranking. Is it possible that all carbs are stucked?

Welcome. Sounds like a great project.
Carbs will need a very careful clean after being left for a long time.

Thanks for the link, I ordered a set. I'll try to have some time during the day to do a deep clean of the crabs until the kit arrives.
I got a spare set of crabs along the bike, later I'll check that too, maybe I can save that.

Checked the carbs and now I have some questions :) First should be the easier one: the part marked on the picture is the source of vacuum as I know. Is it connected only to the fuel petcock? Is there anything else that needs vacuum (especially from here)?
    bandit-vacuum.jpg

On the 2nd photo, the purple goes to outer air pressure, through a filter. It's on one side of the membrane, right? This should be OK in may case. My problem is, that the carbs that were installed in the bike are missing the 2 T-shaped items, but the spare has them (photo is of the spare in this case). When I got the installed one out and rotated the card line, fuel came out through the holes where the black items are missing. Are they required to have the carbs/bike working? Where should they be connected to? Thanks in advance!

First picture is vacuum line to petrol tap.
Second picture the green is fuel inlet. Purple is air breather and should go to a small filter.

    1. small air filter
    2. fuel intake
    3. ?
What is no 3 then? I had the fuel tank connected to it, but I don't think there are 3 fuel input connections on the carbs, so either 2 or 3 should be some kind of breather / overflow, right?

My mistake. No3 is for fuel, 2 must be another breather. What does the manual show?

Just downloaded the manuals a day or 2 ago, couldn't find exact information. Reading forums about same or similar engines suggest #2 are connected to the top of the float bowl and the 2 hoses from there are just open ended or lead back to the fuel tank. I'll try to spare some time during the day to do the cleaning and have a try!

Regarding tire sizes, is there any significant difference between 140/70R17 and 150/60R17? As the bike was sold with both, I think any should just fit fine and have no side effect..

Last days spent with administrative tasks, the bike is now officially mine and got a new plate number as the old one was damaged. Ordered some used turn signals as the front ones are also damaged and far from original. Same for the rear light cover, it's cracked.
Cleaning the carbs takes longer as expected as I was not able to clean 2 of the 4 pilot jets. An ultrasonic cleaner is on it's way to me, hope that will do the job. I think there's no reason to put the crabs back and try to start it until all jets are 100% clear, so now I'm waiting a bit..

A few of us use this stuff to soak and then clean carb parts (only metal parts). It's very good.

Thanks Frankster, I'll check how I can get one in Europe! I think these solvents can be used with the ultrasonic cleaner, too, for some extra boost ;)

Checked the pilot jets with magnifying glass: 2 is 12.5 and the others 20. Is this the default set of jets? If so, are the bigger ones at the sides?

Thanks! The difference seemed too much, then I saw it's for model year 2000, so for GJ77A. My bike is a GJ74A from 1992, so started to dig into the Internet and found this:
    https://en.impex-jp.com/catalogs/moto/suzuki/9900b-68030-020.html
The 3rd image of Fig.11 has parts 44-3, which is 4 pcs of 12.5 pilot jet. Searching the part number 09491-40012 showed this looks exactly as the ones I removed from my carbs. So it seems, someone replaced 2 from the original jets to .20 (maybe smaller ones were not available ATM..).
