Aprilia RS250 Mark 2

Sounds like a bit of a pain. Might be time for a bit of Oxy to free up those bolts. Speaking of braided lines, apart from the guy who sells the Goodridge stuff which seems very pricey, do you know of any other suppliers of decent DOT approved braided lines Kiffsta?

No worries. I bought a set of AP Performance brake lines from Japan Webike. Cheap and not DOT approved obviously. All I can say is never again. I spent days trying to bleed those things and in the end put the original hoses back on and had them bled within 20mins.

 

The only thing is I would prefer a 3 hose set up with a T piece for the front for no other reason than I think it looks neater. Goodridge do a kit but the price being asked for them in Aus is a bit ridiculous compared to the HEL. Might email the guy and see if he can do a custom set. I think those banjo bolts with bleed nipples are pretty useful as well.

We definitely have to get out for a ride with Brisfox and Duggs and any other 2 strokes once your Aprilia is going mate. Sounds like it is going to be a really nice bike.

 

Supporting the local guy is OK by me, seems these days with internet we explore more off shore than local???
Just my take of course but our local guys need support also.

I like to support local vendors as well but first problem is Honda doesn't even stock microfish let alone parts for NSR in Aus dealerships. Second issue is I was getting Honda genuine parts through a well known NSR specialist in Queensland. Then I priced the same parts through places like Tyga or Parts Giant in the States and they were more often than not less than half the price including postage. And that was with the Aussie dollar buying 110 US cents. I don't mind a bit of a mark up but that is just totally taking the piss. Especially for an online business.

ok, i hear all this about braided lines. do they make that huge of a diff? and if yes anyone know where i can get them for the across?

 

Not sure what anyone else thinks but here is my take. They are basically meant to flex less than rubber hoses, thus providing more consistent feel, they are lighter and don't deteriorate (arguably) as much over time. In a race situation, you can make the argument they make a difference. On the road, in my opinion, the difference is minimal and if you ride around at 10/10ths braking force everywhere you probably aren't long left for this world anyway. They are bling more than anything really. For a lot of older bikes they are a sensible replacement for worn out parts as they are relatively cheap and you probably can't get the originals anymore.

 

Thanks for that Murdo. I wasn't aware of Pirtek. I'll contact them too. I've got braided lines on a few bikes as well. I used them to replace the crapped out rubber lines on my DT200. Made a bit of a difference but the brakes will never be any good on that bike unless I do a front end swap. My KTM came with them standard. It's got sensational brakes compared to the DT but it does have Brembo caliper/master cylinder/disk as well.

 

Shouldnt be too hard with the compressor....
