I was looking at a 1992 Kawasaki KLR250 today, it's done 30,000km's and seems ok. Does anyone know of any problems with them? It had sticky clutch plates but they've freed up. It needs a new front tyre, carby leak at the fuel bowl fixed, a battery, a waterpump gasket and rego. The guy wants $550 for it
I've read that they have soft suspension, this one felt pretty good (better than a 2014 TTR250 i rode) The clutch's can need adjusting or plate's replaced. Valve adjustment is easy being a screw and nut set up. The 6 speed transmission need's another gear, should be able to change sprocket's to suit if i need to
Yeah i went up and looked at it this arvo. Still trying to convince the wife i need it, but apparently 14 bikes and a dune buggy are enough?
I've just got my hands on a CBX250 which is my main project at the moment, but with that bike came a KLR250, the teal and purple version. Its in bits and is missing most of it's plastics, but they're on the way. Looking forward to having the dual sport to work on next! So many parts available. The cbx will be a custom ratty build but the KLR will get a factory restoration, purple and green all the way. Rad.
Nah i ended up buying this 1987 Yamaha XT250TS, i still have it now https://www.2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/my-87-yamaha-xt250-ts-57r.9413/page-2
