Yesterday i picked up another cheap project bike that's been sitting for roughly 8 year's. It's a FZR250R 3LN3 with a 3ln1 engine (3LN3 sump) compression's are 170, 170, 170, 165, missing most of the plastic's, tank and foot peg's, ignition switch and key, rear subframe and a few other bit's, has done 31,000km's going off the speedo. Not sure what to do with it yet, it came with a rego plate so will be walk in registration
So in SA you could go and register that pile of parts without an inspection? That's good. Have you identified what the carbs are?
Yeah i can transfer it and register it into my name as the bike sit's atm, it'll be under $100 to transfer and give it 3 month's rego. Carby's are 3LN3
I have a set of zeal carbs which don't have the more secure needle retention mechanism, others may however
@Linkin 's Zeal had them from memory , the early 2KR carby's have spring loaded needle retainer's too 3YX-1490J-20 is the part number for the FZX250 Zeal needle set's
Compare that schematic to the one from this page - https://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-d.../fzr250-19068/3ln3-762243/carburetor-13133643 EDIT - the page says it's from a 3ln3 - just to muddy the waters Looks to be from a 3ln6 and clearly shows the different needle securing mechanism. I am pondering if @Linkin had different carbs or perhaps different slides in his zeal - bonus upgrade
There you go - that tallies with the zeal carbs I purchased - mystery solved and it didn't involve Scooby Doo & Shaggy and a man dressed in a monster suit to say 'I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids"
I smell a drag/track bike opportunity. They are good cold comp numbers as kiffsta said. Both ANDRA and IHRA now have Junior Drag Bike classes if you want to get the son involved too!
