So while ago I bought a few bikes in a deal that seemed more than fair, in the group was a 1992 kx80 with a motor in bits and a frame that had been sitting outside for apparently 10 years. As expected things like the seat and plastics were damaged , cracked or no existent , wheels and tires were less than ideal and all the other box and dice you would expect so I did some research and apparently these are quite sort after in some circles so took it to my mad mate and we had a few cans and what started as a “what do you think” turned into a well let’s get it down to a frame and see what happens fast forward and things as expected are way out of hand but once your in it well your in it so been on the hunt for the list of bits it’s missing etc so parts that were salvageable were cleaned then wire wheeled, prepped and paint matched so the engine went to Craig as by recommendation from @kriffsta and the build started to happen we are trying to be as period correct as possible but as the crime on the front forks were shot, I came across a 2008 front end for a complete steal, so atm that’s the only part that isn’t period correct that we know of anyways pictures to follow also found the original advertising pamphlet and that’s being re printed to attach with the bike when complete the plan is to fully restore and then take to dust hustle after covid as a usable resto and hopefully not take it home if someone offers the right price , mind you though we don’t know what that is. so here’s so pictures as it sits now as I wait for parts to arrive for the zxr build
I think I just wet blasted your engine the before shot is the sand blast using glass bead , the after shot is the money shot
