Just as we managed to get the girl reliably starting, the tachometer simply stopped. I had given the bike a degrease and pressure wash a day before, so suspect I may have got some water in somewhere it doesnt belong... there is a rubber seal with three wires down low on the LH side... not sure the seal is in great shape... or whether thats even related to tacho ... still familiarising myself with the bike, so not sure where to start on this one... But at least the fairing is back on now.
I would take the tank off and unplug any plug's and socket's to check for corrosion. Also check all the earth's are bolted to clean bare metal. (use dielectric grease to stop corrosion) Use some dielectric grease in and on the terminal's inside the plug's and socket's Using the grease inside headlight bulb socket's, indicator's, brake/tail and dash light's can help any bulb's last longer too It's perfect for using inside all the switch's too
I ran the diagnostic as per the manual and couldn't get it to respond, so figure it's dead. Albeit I was trying to figure out where the tacho connects to the coil or IC unit... or whatever sends the signal.. no luck working out which connectors/box to look at...
Since last posting :- directly connected 12 volts to the Input Wire of the no 1 Coil wire per the manual, and couldnt get a blip.. will buy a 2nd hand one.
