    Hey Chris,

Been AWOL for a few weeks due to work commitments. Good to see a few of the lads are having a crack at the quarter (& eight) mile. 14.97 is a good run for a 4-stroke 250. I'll try and find a time-slip that's a little quicker, post it and give the guys something to aim at. A good 2-stroke will run in the 13's.

    Cheers

    Frank

    Kiffsta,

You might have to have an 1/8 mile section as well for all of us guys that run on regional tracks and never get to enjoy the full 1/4 mile.

    @Linkin @Murdo @aky141

Linkin ran well recently on his first crack at drag racing at the Gunnedah Aero Club meet.

I reckon the hard bit would be getting the 2 strokes off the line. Must be a lot of time lost there.

Agreed. That is why I have bought a flywheel to put back on my YZ engine.

True, but they just have so much more power than a 4-stroke 250 that as soon as they get going it's all over. Ask the guys that race those CBR250RR bikes in period 6...as soon as they get on a straight the 2-strokes just eat them

I have a feeling 2-strokes are banned from competing by ANDRA in any of their classes.

Street bike, Comp bike, Altered bike, Super twin bike, Pro stock bike and Top fuel bike do not allow two stroke engines. Two strokes ok for Modified bike and street registered classes.
The two stroke ban came about (I was told by the technical director at ANDRA) because some blokes were using two stroke outboard engines (V6 Mercury 2.5Lt) in bikes and killing the competition, so they banned them to make it fairer competition.
I'm happy for anybody to bring a two stroke to the Gunnedah drags.

I think some of the nutters at the Grasstree beach drags run outboard engines in their modified bikes. May be wrong though. Definitely worth checking out one day if you have the time.

When I was selling my TZR a guy from Sydney was keen on it. He was from Europe and had raced 2-strokes all his life. I'm NOT a 2-stroke guy, so take this with a grain of salt, but he said he could get 100hp out of 250cc 2-stroke...true or not, it's impossible to compete with something that powerful.

Not sure about that with a TZR. Even the GP250 bikes were only putting out a tad over 100hp. If he said mid 70s I'd be willing to believe him but you end up with a bike that is pretty unreliable for the street.

Fox, my TZR was stock (http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?showcase/1986-yamaha-tzr250.99/).

The potential buyer used to drag race 2-strokes in Europe back in the days when they did burnouts against a burnout board. He raced 250, 350 and 500cc 2-strokes. We had a long chat and if I remember correctly, he said the bikes wouldn't idle, you basically started it; kept blipping the throttle and then off you went. I expect WOT works fine for something that highly tuned. I wish I kept his mobile number.

They dont idle probably because of the type of fuel they use. TZR 100 hp .......I would say thats a bit of a shaggy dog story. A TZ 250 will put out 85-88 ish and thats a late model race bike.

Guys, forget the TZR. The bloke raced in the 70's and 80's. RD's and stuff like that. This isn't him, but a quick check on YT...
