    Just remember your new regulator will put out 35A max

    Ok, But what would that mean,,,? Do I need to cater for 35Amp on the fuse then? If it feed Max 35Amp and my bike expect max 20-25Amp and I fuse it for that, would that mean that the circuit would go on/off all the time or could I average/regulate this over charge expectation somehow (or can I simply ignore it and go for a 35Amp fuse (guess the Amp across the system would be 75% higher than expected across the system if I stick to 35Amp and it hits that threshold - Doubt it would be persistent - just a peak, but should I be concerned if/when this occur ?

    The new reg/rect would only be working at around 50% capacity, so it may not shut off as much as it normally would, possibly making it run warmer? Mount it somewhere it'll get air flowing past it.
    Your charging system is also governed by what the stator put's out, so it should be ok unless you are running lot's of high current accessory's off the battery but that'd be hard to do.
    Maybe just run a 25A fuse at first and keep a 30A or 35A as a spare in your bike's tool kit incase it's needed.
    Once you have set up the new reg/rect on your bike check the charging voltage's, and amp's with all accessory's on, it should charge the battery at 13.8v or close and shouldn't go over 14.4v at 4000rpm/5000rpm.
    Might pay to hook up a small remote volt meter as a temporary guide for the first few week's?
    When you're out riding check your battery temperature whenever you can just to see that it's not running too hot.
    You can also feel the stator cover on the side of the engine and check that it's not running really hot too.

    Just out of interest, which one did you refer to coming up with US $135 incl shipping?
    From what I can see he wants US $35 in shipping alone to AUS (not the $7.25 *thats for domestic US shipping)

    Reason for asking is that Im sort of starting to re-consider my options of fitting the cheap one I bought (hopefully I would be able to send it back for a refund)
    But, with limited funds, the cheapest one from RoadsterCycles I can find would set me back about AU $217

    Your best bet to find a cheapish genuine FH020AA is to find someone wrecking a modern triumph or bmw motorcycle (r1200gs, s1000 models, daytona 675, street triples, t120 bonnevilles etc)

    The mosfet reg/recs came as an upgrade for triumph models with charging system issues

    Thanks, will try some wreckers in the hope of finding one - but I guess that could turn out iffy as well if the R/R turns out dodgy - no idea if wreckers offer any kind of warranty on stuff they sell

    Try private people wrecking their crashed bikes etc, ebay an gumtree... most wreckers asking prices are, well, 'tell him he's dreaming'

    The 775's are the earlier version of the SH847, one of the best ones to get

    Interesting discussion with one of Perths' wreckers chasing the R/R for my bike....
    This guy must do well and have more biz he can handle, treating potential buyers like this - simply asked a few questions that turnrrd out to be too hard to handle by the wrecker - sheeesh

    Quote/thread:

    I have tried to be helpfull and gone out of my way contacting you when i located the regulator, i have sent you pictures and given as much help as i can to you.

    But now i have decided that i dont want to supply this item!

    Good luck with your search.

    =================================

    This CBR500 regulator is not missing the connectors, The 3 phase connector is part of the stator assembly.

    The other connector ( Positive and Negative) is part of the main wiring harness on the bike.

    We do not cut connectors of a wiring harness, as it make a harness useless!

    I doubt you will be able to find these connectors very easily.

    I can supply this Used/secondhand item for $99.00 inc GST.

    =================================

    ... and what do you want for it (it being incomplete with missing connectors) - Missing harness I could live with, but without the special Mosfit connectors... well, iffy if I could source them - sure there are aftermarket ones available but they are sheit and dont hold up.

    Might still be interested @ the right price though.

    Let me know

    btw. so with this CBR500 that you dismantled - surely you must have taken the harness off - would surprise me if you had a buyer on the harness alone - so perhaps it sits on a shelve somewhere - worth double checking or...?

    cheers

    ==================================

    I can only supply the regualtor, i do not have the connectors available.

    The Regulator was taken from a complete and running 2015 CBR500 with less than 20’000ks.

    The regulator was tested and confirmed working on the CBR500.

    However, if it is being fitted to a different model bike, i cannot confirm how it wil perform.

    Please let me know if you wish to purchase this item.

    Thats not a genuine item though (pretty sure its not - bit might be wrong as theres a myriad of versions sold under the name) - My 10c is that this is yet another counterfeit sold as being "genuine"

    First thing I noticed is that this ebay item dont have the slided hole on one side - thats a sign - right?
    ebay item have two round holes both sides - thats not what it should look like - (according to Jack @ RoasterCycle) - So not 100% convinced its a genuine item (even though the casting and backplate merry up)

    the slotted bolt hole is on the left hand side of the first photo if you check the edge of the allen bolt using the on the full sized image, but realistically it makes no difference to me whatsoever if you buy it or not

    Dont get me wrong here = just trying to rule out a genuine/fake item - I am interested, but based on RoasterCycle its not what it should look like (hence me being a bit careful @ this stage) - truly appreciate the suggestion though - Seem like a fair price for it - Need the bottom end plugs to go with it though and from what I learnt, the aftermarket ones is really bad - sent a flash to the ebay poster asking if he/she also can supply the plugs = well, see what comes out of it

    @Federal Agent at Large

    Sorry but your complaints re your dealings with the wrecker are unfounded ..... I wouldnt expect a few plugs to be cut off a perfectly good harness and render it useless .... an RR is 1 'part' and the harness is another 'part'

    Also this forum isnt the place to 'name and shame' a business in public ..... sure we can have a whinge and whine about our dealings with others ..... a casual comment about how the local dealer, parts guy or mechanic was 'not great to deal with' is more in order.
    Your post has been edited accordingly.

    ... And just where did you see me suggesting anyone cutting a perfectly good harness????
    This was his word - not mine - I simply asked if he had one sitting on a shelve that had the connectors - that turned out to be too difficult apparently
    ... And as for naming & shaming... I found the attitude from this wrecker anything but acceptable. A customer should be allowed to ask as many questions they like without being cut off or told they no longer want to do biz.
    Glad I figured out what this dealership was about before(!) I bought anything though - and perhaps my experience from this particular wrecker could serve some purpose for others now or in the future.
