Hey guys, i picked up a 08 CBR125R cheap last night, thought it may have some rego issues - PPSR check this morning confirms its a repairable write-off.

Unsure of how 'mint' is has to be to pass a Tier 3 inspection ($300) and $62 subsequent inspections. IF it passes that it needs a roadworthy inspection ($200). If it needs brand new fairings, petrol tank its not going to be worth doing and i may as well part it out. It has a broken lug on one of the fairings, crack in the headlight fairing which has been glued? and a little dent in the tank. A real shame as its only got 500km on the clock.

Basically what I'm asking is has anyone had success with repairable write-off bikes, especially in SA? Whats your thoughts on this? Cheers

Thanks @Wozza that's what i thought, not worth it. The painful part is not knowing what it was written off for, there is no way of finding this out without investing the $300 for inspection?

Most repairable's are written of by insurance companys...the duke had a very light slow drop, the fairing was damaged and the engine case's where damaged, not enough to render the bike unusable but bloody costly to replace...
With the inspection regency can be hit and miss some walk it through, some are re honed with the sunny side of a Queensland pineapple ;)
Country inspections (think its vehicle is regoed 100+km from the cbd) are a whole different game and just a matter of convincing the local police its safe to use....

In QLD it seems the wovi is more about making sure it isn't stolen, or you stolen parts. The roadworthy ($50-80) is done first to state if it is road safe.

Your issue is that it will always be on the register, and always be a 125. A soft one at that. It's not worth much without the wovr listing, less now with it. Sorry to say.
