    Hello guys,

Been working on a non-running 1991 GSF250 for a while now but could never get it to run. First time working on a bike but I managed to single it out to the carbies as the engine starts with start ya bastard.

Does anyone have a working set of carbies for sale? The only manual I have is from this forum and it says it is a Mikuni BDST30 but that could be for the newer models.

Also, open to offers if anyone wants to buy the entire bike off my hands in Victoria.

Have you had the carby's off and given them a thorough clean out with Threebond Super Engine Conditioner (Petrol type) and then given them a good blow out with compressed air ?

Sound's like there may be a blockage in the pilot system somewhere, possibly in the tiny port where it goes from the mixture screws' needle tip into the main bore of the carby.
You might need to take the mixture screw's out and check that the hole's are open at the bottom of the thread's where the mixture screw screw into the body of the carby's

Although my bike is a few years newer ('93) it was pretty well all there. I did need a battery and TDI unit to get it running. It stumbled and was erratic with throttle response, but with a Sunday afternoon spent cleaning the carbs and putting them back on, the bike ran great. I still need to change the oil, and filter, but can't wait for our weather to clear up so I can get out on it. The bike is a riot to ride, and I encourage you to stick with it as I think the rewards are worth it.

Information on the bike was hard to find, but by searching the web, and all the diagrams on part distributors sites, notes can be taken and you can sift through it and find what you need. I did receive a lot of information, help and encouragement here (thanks again group!) and found everyone here very free with their ideas. I just thought I'd send a note and wish you success with your bike. Regards, Bab.

I just tried that today, one of the pilot jets wouldn't come out. I tried shining light through it but couldn't see light coming through. I could for the other 3.

I took out the mixture screws too and cleaned them out. I use brake cleaner instead of the one you mentioned.

I took out the spark plugs to have a look at their condition and there's quite a lot of gunk on it, even in the engine area where the spark plugs go into. I'm so tempted to rip it all apart and clean it!

Starting to lose hope in this because I don't think I can see this project through as I will be moving out of the country for work soon. Quite bummed as I was hoping to ride it before I have to go :( Are people still interested in parts for this bike?
