I received an email from a customer asking if I wanted to buy his Katana 750, ’it has been in a shed since 2002 and was looking a bit sore and sorry for itself I made an offer and the seller accepted so i picked it up on Saturday morning. Today I didn’t get into work until after lunch as I had to drop my son down to Coolangatta airport to attend a Vereren Mentors leadership camp, more on that later So Phil and my mate Henry gave me a hand to get the carbs out , they were quite possible the worst I have ever seen. The butterflies are jammed shut so they are now soaking. I am not going the full resto on it, more just clean it up and ride it. I may need a few parts such as carbs and headers bit I am hoping to see her running shortly
I actually owned that precise model of bike in about 1988 - hopefully the corrosion is treatable - it was a pretty bike, not the quickest
Let me know if you ever decide to move her on. She's the right age to qualify for nostalgia drag racing.
Good news, I soaked the carbs overnight and when I came in this morning they freed up, fitted new fuel valves from BK Performance and reassembled the carbs. I have very badly cracked carb intake boots but we managed to hear her run after a 15 year sleep. Ordered some new carb boots from Springwood Suzuki which should be here by Friday. I’m going away for a few days , will do some more next week as time permits
