The little zzr that could

  • don't know if i'm allowed to post things i no longer own, but here's an absolutely thrashed 1994 zzr250 that was my daily ride until a few months ago.

90,000+ km on the clock, gearbox always falling into neutral from 2nd, typical stuff from a used up bike. mirrors would flop inwards once you hit 70km/hr and every fairing plus the windscreen had a big crack somewhere in it.

never once broke down, the most reliable machine i've ever used. took me from brisbane to townsville with a filthy chain and dirty oil in one painful 17 hour 1400km run of nonstop 9000rpm without missing a beat (aside from the cracked front fender coming loose and flying off somewhere north of mackay, expertly repaired with some bits of tape) sadly don't have it anymore as i had to sell it in townsville to get home because i have poor planning skills and no money. The buyer said he planned on restoring it, hope to run into it again one day.

last pic is of the bike on the Strand in townsville on the night of my arrival.

i suggest everyone does a massive and borderline insane trip on their bike at some point in their lives - nothing better.
