1998 Honda VT250 Spada

  • I bought this Honda Spada locally, the previous owner had ridden into the back of a 4x4 and done some serious damage to himself, the bike had a broken headlight and the gauges were damaged. It had belonged to a rider training school , hence the tragic crash bars.

    It sat for 12 months before I bought it and the seat vinyl had been torn, I bought it home and set about fixing it up. Up front a new MCS 8 inch headlight was fitted, new fork ears were supplied with the bike. I searched high and low for gauges and they are rare as hens teeth, so I took a punt and ordered some "Chinese" VT400 gauges, Phil made some custom brackets and they were on. Turned the key and started the bike, however the tacho and lights didn't work, I set about changing the harness into the gauge cluster so if someone did find a good set later on the bike could be easily returned to stock. I think I spent around 5 hours tracing wires trying to work out what each one did, finally it all worked and I took it down for RWC and rego.

    I rode this bike to work for about 8 months, then I sold it I have seen it up for sale a few times since, good to see its still on the road. The colour was ugly, but she was good reliable transport !!!
