    hi all.

Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a aftermarket or secondhand ignitor for my 1983 gsx250? It has decided to fail. I am located in Brisbane if someone has one they want to get rid of otherwise online would suit just fine. Any advice would be great

Also thought I would chuck a pic on of my bike.

    :welcome:

I'm liking the bike. You can try your local wrecking yards, ebay, findapart.com.au for trying to find one in Australia. You can even send your broken one off to be examined and possibly repaired

If you want a new unit you can pay through the nose for an OEM one if still available or take a punt on a cheaper chinese one.

Im liking the bike also, looks comfy. I think they want 100$+ for the chinese ones on Ebay even, wreckers might be your cheaper option

Thanks guys. Guess just phoning around the local wreckers to find one and hopefully it works. Was hoping someone might have one to save the hassel.

I have a spare that I could possibly part with. Post a pic of your plug just to make sure that it is compatible

Mine are a bit different from the one you have. Could make up an adapter plug if desperate but I'm sure you can find one to suit.

I am sure that I could make it fit somehow.

Where are you located? Or would it be easier to post? How much are you after?

WOW for those $$ I'd want to be absolutely certain it's kaput and then seeing if it's possible to open it for inspection and potential repair.

Usually no spark on 2x cylinder's, can be intermittent spark, or they can break down at certain rev's etc etc
They suffer from dry soldered joint's, transistor's failing, capacitor's leaking, resistor's and diode's failing

Easiest way to kill them is to try turning the bike over without the ignition coil lead's connected to the spark plug's

Below is how mine is set up. Instead of explaining I'll let you look over it and ask questions. IMG_1223.JPG
