Not today but yesterday I sold Nix (ZZR-250), as bills needed to be paid. This means I need to get Scarlet back and running ASAP as I nominee own a motorcycle that is both running and registered. Hopefully I'll find a new job before I have to sell any others :/ Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Someone else on my Aprilia SXV550: The header pipes on the SXV get a tad hot when the fast idle knob (ie choke) is on. It's because of the tuning map that I've got on the bike - the timing is too retarded and throws lots of heat into the exhaust because the mixture is still burning when the exhaust valve opens. Freaky as hell the first time you see it. More photos and info: http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?235168-Aprilia-SXV550-Exhaust-Glowing-Red-Hot
So after putting in the new chinese radiator and straightening and painting the H bracket. It's all back together and shiny black. Did a quick half hour lap wed arve then rode it to work thurs, 30km @ 100kmh both ways. The radiator works well, too bluddy well! It makes very little temp on the gauge. And the fan comes on early. Yeah i put a new thermo switch in as well. No not the worst dilemma but i'd prefer it made a good temp then sat there. Btw the radiator was $65 USD or $90 AU. Fitted reasonably well, and works! Cheers R.
@RustyGT are you sure the temp sensor and gauge are working? Also, without a thermostat the temp will be low while moving as air is blowing through the rad. Probably better that the fan kicks in early than overheating.
Yeah the gauge is working. It used to indicate the engine was hot. That's why i put a new radiator in it. Now it tells me the engine is cold... Next time i take it out i'll take my point and shoot thermometer. Get a reading on the temp.
I bought a Chinese sensor for mc22, fan kicks in really quick ie 1/4 on the gauge , I swapped it for genuine Honda one and now the fan kicks in 3/4
Yep. The chinese one was $7 delivered. Local Honda dealer wants $110 for oem. As if..! Not the biggest deal, i'll get it sorted. What i was trying to do was give some feedback on whether the chinese radiators work. I know you sell s/h parts kiffsta. So excuse me if i say that s/h radiators are rarely re-usable. This one fitted well enuff and works fine.
If you're in the know, radiators can be repaired and made like new and perform perfectly. Much cheaper that OEM, not sure how it compares with ones from China.
Put about 40KM on the MC22. It's memorial day weekend here. Idiots everywhere, LEO's everywhere. Went back home and parked it. Probably gonna clean up the garage a bit today and see if I can't get the pile of KLX110 engine off of my bench and into a box until I feel like jacking with it again. That engine has been torn about 8 times since I bought it last year. The issues is downshifting from 3rd lands me into neutral. That's bad news when all you use is 2nd and 3rd after the start of a race.
Went down the track yesterday, and heading back today for another crack. Had gearbox issues with my Kwaka 636, so only have my period 5 zed to ride...but I am fine with that!!
