Sorry there was the same post back in 2013 but it was confusing me with how the bike initially sets up to start.

when I put the dash back in I found the oil light was missing. After replacing, when I turn the key on the oil light comes on. Turn the run switch to on and the oil light go's out. Start the bike and the oil light comes on and stays on.

*The pressure switch/oil level switch has continuity when the bike isn't running and is open circuit when the bike is running. So it doesn't matter if I disconnect the wire on the switch as the switch is open circuit when running. Plus I took it off and the light stays on

    * checked the run switch and all looks clean inside

    * Changed the oil and filter

    * Oil level is on the top of the sight glass when the bike is upright

    * If I earth out the wire on the switch when the bike is running the the oil light go's out

My question is dose your oil light come or off when you turn on the run switch

Oil light should come on at ignition on and kill switch on or off
Should go out when engine starts.

My 3LN1 oil light just comes on and goes off whenever it likes while riding ....... when I cleaned the one below from the spare motor alot of gunk came out so I assume they fill with crap over time and cause it to not read correctly.

FZRs take 2.2L with filter change and 2L with oil only change

3LN1s have an oil LEVEL switch/sendor

Later models have an oil PRESSURE switch
