    G'day all :)

I've always been a car kind of guy and if I'm honest I always will be. Bikes are so far very interesting but I'm not yet convinced (although I hope to be!)...

I've only just got my L's after having bought a Postie. It's a 1976 CT90 with a 110 engine and a few other mods. Neat little thing to get me to the station and back.

I thought I'd be happy with just the Postie but I'm very keen on a Honda CB250F and am on the lookout. If anyone knows of a clean low km one for sale I'd be interested to check it out. :)

As I mentioned I'm more of a car guy and have owned and wrenched on my fair share. I'm currently restoring a Datsun 240Z (hence the name) which is a long long term project and am also expecting my first child in April so I don't expect the car will be complete anytime soon...

As for the bikes, I'm a small build at 167cm and 67kg so my preference will be the smaller and lower bikes - certainly while I'm learning but I suspect even when I have the experience as I prefer light and high revving over heavy and overpowered.

Hope to stick around and learn a thing or two. :)

    George

Welcome mate. I was a car guy too, a very long time ago. Then I jumped on a bike and haven't looked back... bit of a shame really, I wish I could see cars as "fun" rather than just "transport"...

As for bikes ride a few see how you go, buy something you like there's quite a range out there.

    hey George

Welcome to the forum, the Honda CBF250 is great little commuter and you could do a lot worse :thumb_ups:

You obviously have your licence as you are riding the CT110 , so my advice to you to go and test ride a few different bikes and see which once feels right to you.

    Cheers N beers

    Thanks for the welcome.

Chris, I would love to test ride as many as I can but feel a little apprehensive at this stage. I would hate to drop a bike I'm testing so I feel kind of strange about checking out bikes. I guess most people selling a 250 would be just coming off their L's potentially so they'll probably be very understanding.

    :welcome: George
Postie bike to CB250F, interesting choice but kudos to you....still riding a Honda :thumb_ups:

The more difficult aspect is finding such a bike that meets your criteria....could be an obstacle considering the age of the bike and the lack of history...will be a challenge !!

You will encounter many on the forum who own such bikes and are able to better guide you than myself.
Wish you well in your search and good luck with 240z :thumb_ups:

No need to be apprehensive when test riding, you'll get the gist as soon as you ride and don't be surprised if some bikes don't feel 100%, that is the one to steer clear of.

If anyone wants to test ride a bike they should be prepared to put the cash price on the table as a 'deposit' ... then if the bike is damaged , crashed or stolen ..... its covered as good as sold.

    Welcome George.
I sat on a new CB300 yesterday and although I am 180cm it still felt a mid size bike to me. As others have said, get out and try them to see what suits you.

Don't be apprehensive mate just ring a few dealers and hook up some rides. There's only one way to feel less apprehensive - more time on a bike! :)

Your departure would be considered offensive, hang around and enlighten us with your purchase.

Some of you might laugh but I bought this '72 Honda CB350F sight unseen and I've not even sat on one before. It's all a new experience anyway so why the hell not.

I really wanted a Hornet or a Balius but I'm more of a vintage enthusiast so this suits me well enough. It should arrive in a couple of weeks.

Of course stick around, we are not going to beat you up over 100cc. :lolsign:

For me at least, this forum is not just about 250cc motorcycles, but about the whole fun/life experience of riding and fixing bikes.
'Wouldn't be dead for quids' as someone once said.
I like those little 350/4's. Are you going to restore to original?

I'm currently restoring an early '70's car to fanatical levels of originality... it's bloody hard and painfully expensive so my answer is a big no for the bike.

It's my chance to enjoy a vehicle with some mods without loosing its '70's charm. It doesn't look too far from original now and I don't intend to chop the frame or anything like that but I would like to clean up the lines with a custom fitted low profile seat, smaller indicators and tail light and I might look at handlebars as well. It comes with electronic ignition so I might install that. For now I'll just enjoy it as is and see where we go after a while. :)

Cheers :) I know I saw the link to sub somewhere but I can't find it right now. Do you mind linking me?

The owner did send me a link to a couple of short vids. After seeing the pics and the videos I was sold on it.

Should arrive next Friday but I'm away for that whole weekend...
