    Alright, update

    Put in my old R/R
    Battery now charges

    BUT
    when doing this
    it reads -12v

    yes negative
    what does this mean

    For one I would say that you are in a VOLTS measuring range, not AMPS.
    Secondly the POSITIVE terminal of the meter was not connected to the positive terminal of the battery, therefore a negative reading.

    Other than that, it is all a bit meaningless...

    my bike is amazing at running against all odds.
    its not been used to nearly a year, it has no exhaust headers on, it has water in the fuel, and the battery is flat. it bumped first time and ran ok (if very loud) lol.
