Just look at what have you disturbed and when does it leak?

Clean all fluid off with solvent etc. Squeeze brakes hard. Is it coming out of the hose fitting pipe thread?

Yes, seal it better by tightening hoses. No, Is it leaking somewhere else like around pushrod on the brake lever?
Yes, then you need a new cup seal.

No Leaks. Take it for a ride. Is it splashing around and leaking from the reservoir lid?

Cant help much more than that.

You can do almost anything if you put your mind to it.

Did you use NEW copper crush washers? Sometimes they can be re-used, sometimes they drool like a happy Basset hound... <!-- s:-? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_Eyecrazy.gif" alt=":-?" title="Eye Crazy" /><!-- s:-? -->

i have cleaned everything up to see where the leak is coming from and also have put the old brake lines back on problem now is i cant seem to get any pressure to even bleed the brakes? or flow out of the line? do the washers have to be in the right places for the holes to line up or? im lost haven't rode the poor thing in so long!

It sounds like you have a big airlock in the master cylinder. Either that or the master cylinder piston is stuck at the far end if its travel.

It may be worth trying to clear the air lock by pumping brake fluid back to the master cyl by wedging open the caliper pistons back into the caliper housing. Keep the bleed valve shut for this.

I think there are systems available were you suck the fluid down to the calipers also.

i have taken the line back off and no brake fluid pumps stright out of the master cylinder? so dave it is the piston on its ending stroke?
does that mean that what will be cuaseing it to leak aswell?
and allso how many washer to i put on with the two brake lines on the one bolt,3?

Are you doing this - When trying to pump brake fluid through the master cylinder you need to make sure that you pull the brake lever, open the bleed valve, close the bleed valve then you release the brake lever. This stops air being sucked back into the master cylinder.

If you have no hose connected, then use you finger to block the hole in the same manner.

If you have no luck then it may be worth pulling the master cylinder apart and see if the piston is stuck. also it may be that the spring that pushes the piston back has broken.

i did the whole stick your finger over th master cylinder and pump it thing, and it definitely pumps and sucks enough to push my finger off it,so put the lines back on and its taking soo long to get even a little bit of fluid out of the bleeding screw? quite dark fluid as well tiny tiyn little bubble evynow and then but il have to have anther go at it after work tomorrow as it was taking so long ?

cheers dave for your help think where getting somewhere slowly haha

It can be slow to bleed sometimes. just make sure the master reservoir fluid does not get too low while you are trying to bleed as it will airlock again.
