I've been thinking that there should be a thread containing model vise list of parts specs and number as the case may be. My question here is about recommended battery and monoshock for my bike? Its 3LN1 model as below. Currently the battery on my bike is 12N9 wet type, the battery case however is a little bit bigger than the battery size and it just came to my mind that perhaps the recommended battery might be a bit bigger in size and the battery remains loose in there. The monoshock also seems to need replacement as the road clearance is not enough with a second person on the rear seat. What are your suggestions :

Have you tried raising the rear shock?

This will make it stiffer but have more clearance.

No I haven't tried that. The roads over here are somewhat bumpy and I heard that adjusting it like that is not advisable.

Any help about the battery question?

As far as the battery, you have few options depending how much you want to spend. Regardless which brand you pick or type (sealed or wet) always make sure it has the correct size and specs. I cannot tell you which brand to use as I haven't needed one myself.

To change the rear shock .... if you are doing it to prevent from the bike loosing clearance when 2up riding is done, I wouldn't. The bike's geometry was designed with single rider (it's a sportbike after all) in mind, so trying to get a shock which would be adaptable better for 2up riding, doesn't make whole lot sense to me. But, if you still want to proceed with that, I don't think there's ever been made an aftermarket shock specifically for FZR250. FZR400 has different shock and mounts I believe and modifying the stock one is not an option (it's a sealed unit). So, you simply need to find a better shock (most modern ss bikes will do) or a unit made by one of the companies out there. A lot of people pugraded to FOX (don't make motorcycle shocks anymore) clickers on FZR400, so this brand would work, but you still need to make sure that the shock mounts and over all length is within the stock one, otherwise your geometry will be out of whack. So it's not easy and not exactly inexpensive ..... what's your budget?

I replaced the battery in my FZR250 3LN5 as soon as I got it. The Yuasa one that was in there was a YB10L-A2. The 'Diamond' battery that I replaced it with was a DB10L-A2.

As for aftermarket shocks Hagon here in the UK do them, part no M62012.

My bike is fitted with a hagon monoshock but is listed as a 'prototype' on the receipt! Fitted in 96/97.

If you buy direct they will change the spring to match your weight for free.

Do the Hagon shocks have any compression or rebound damping? For that price they should, but I don't see it anywhere mentioned on their site (except for hydraulic preload ... what for??). For 300+ GBP you should be able to fit an Ohlins there who will have all the clickers ... They look more like a stock replacement, meaning just pre-load and that's it.

To the OP. I was fooling with exhaust today and as I was doing so, I noticed that the rear shock linkage has two mounting hole options. I didn't spend much time looking but it seemed like that this could buy you some room, assuming your is right now mounted in the lower mount. Check it out, maybe it will solve your problem without spending lots of money on a shock.

New ohlins shocker is probably around 450-500 here in the UK. I picked up my particular FZR bike for £350! Just glad mine already had the Hagon on it.

I agree the hydraulic preload is a bit of a gimick. As standard they only have preload adjustment.

EDIT: found this ebay advert and it says they have damipng adjustment using an allen key adjuster (?hex key? to you?)

I didn't know the monoshock would be such a costly item, right now I am thinking to try my luck with adjusting it, with just me riding the clearance is good but its with the second passenger that the bike seems too low.

Coming back to the battery, can anyone tell me the difference between a 12N9 and a 12N10 battery? They seem to be of equal size, if 12 represents the volts, then what does 9 mention?
Chris both the batteries you mentioned above seem to be of the same size as 12N9-4B on my bike. But I want to know what is the original battery that might have come with the 3LN1 bike? As I have mentioned in an earlier post, the current 12N9 battery on my bike does not fit tight in the battery case and remains somewhat loose which made me suspect that perhaps my bike is running on a slightly smaller size battery. Hence the battery question..
