hey all im new to this forum so quik rundown is i got a fzr 250 '88' model my first bike had it about 7 months n love it runs well no major dramas with it (i dont think lol) iv just given it a full respray top to toe new new seats visor grips ect ect, looks a million buks.

Was just wondering though wats the average kms u guys get to a tank, i get around 170 without reserve, is this right???

and another quik one if anyone might have more of an idea then me, wen i start it wen its dead cold it near kills the battery coz it takes so long to kick over and on many occasions it has (choke is on and give it mayb one or two pumps to get fuel flowing ) but once she starts n warms up u can ride it all day, turn it off n on no dramas. iv got a fair idea it could be a carby issue mayb choke but if anyone can help would be awesome ;)

Hard starting cold but fires right up when warm is a classic symptom of tight intake valves. Grab the 400 manual and do some reading, then check your clearances. Re-shimming your valves is a non-trivial job, but it's not hard - just involved...

As for fuel economy, i get about 180 per tank, so that seems not too far off..

I have the similar cold starting problem. I am not good at this maintenance stuff, where are he intake valves located? I planning to get it done from a mechanic.
