Just thought i could vent a little of my annoyance.

I was running late for work, as usual, and i realised that i didnt have much petrol left in the tank so i set off to find a servo. It is also raining! As i leave my street the bike loses power and eventually conks out. I reach for my reserve tank knob and attempt to turn it the thing snaps off and crumbles into 100 little pieces. I try to turn the little screw but its too tight and i end up walking it to the stupid servo in the stupid RAIN

That's no good mate, couple weeks ago I was went riding around my suburb to test out original exhaust after replacing it from the sports one looking down at the km it was around 150 so I figured I still have plenty of juice left but it turns out the sports can was running too rich and hence the change over I conked out but luckily I wasn't too far from home so I got me some petrol and off we went.

I've pushed the bike as well and it's not really a fun thing to do. It actually drains the crap out of me haha. Anyway good luck finding a new part.

Footpath woulda looked like a good option I reckon!

Bummer about your tap breaking. That had to be pretty frustrating.
Speaking of turning the tap on the fly (ie, while riding), does anyone else find it next to impossible? I can get it from the on to the off position using the side of my finger to push it, at which point it's super close to the faring and so you can't fit much of your finger between the tap and the fairing. But using just the ends of my finger and thumb I almost don't have the ability to turn it any further. I wonder if it just needs lubing or something, it requires a fair amount of force to turn it.

I was always able to get mine turned without stopping. It was the 2KR model though. Don't know if they are easier to get at than the 3LN tap.

Mine's a 3LN1, and I have no issues. If you need vice grips to turn your petcock (exaggerating), it needs to be stripped, cleaned and lubed. Bear in mind this is a gasoline-bearing device, gasoline is a solvent - lube goes bye-bye. A little silicone goop goes a long way...
