    Just like to share with y'all, bought my first ever bike, about 3 months ago, yamaha fzr 2kr 1989 i thinks.. bought it off this dude very much as an impulse buy, (got excited over how much more amazing it was than Suzzuki across i tried the day previously), and was riding it nicely home. Then BAM, cuts out battery dead. had to push it home past some labourers who reminded me that bikes were for riding not for pushing. new battery worked for 2 days then it died, stupid car mechanics gave it to me without removing some seal, which proved to be very funny for the bike mechanics. NEW regulator and ANOTHER new battery. worked for a few days then decided it would die after about 45 miutes of riding and needed an hour of rest before it would start again. My compression starts have been mastered!
    SO took it too the mechanic and they ran new cables through it thinking it would solve everyhting. BAm died again. i was rather fed up and started fiddling with the electrics and unplugged the front headlights. PERFECT must have been a wattage mismatch or somthing such. Anyway havent had any problems since, and will have to just limit its night use.
    ALso riding along yesterday and i saw the odometre click of 90 000, brought a tear to my eye <!-- s:bananna2: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/th_Bananna2.gif" alt=":bananna2:" title="bananna2" /><!-- s:bananna2: --> <!-- s:bananna2: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/th_Bananna2.gif" alt=":bananna2:" title="bananna2" /><!-- s:bananna2: -->

    ALSO forgot to say, 3 weeks back i was riding along to work, and noticed that my left was completely GONE. i had no idea, and together with my previous problems jsut amazed me. How rediculous!
    sooo i jumped on ze ebay and bought 2 new ones off the guy in melbourne that makes em up, havent fitten them yet but appear to be quite good. 250 Dorra later i should have a normal appearing bike, i think the streetfighter look makes the rider look like a poor person with no taste

    Sounds like what happened was the headlight globe maybe was shorted out sucking the power from the system. FZR's will stop dead as the battery gets low.

    Common scenario is riding in heavy city traffic, with hot weather making the fan run. Low revs, idling for a lot of the time means the battery cannot get enough charge from the alternator to run everything, and the battery runs flat and the bike stops.

    With the lights on, bike running at 4000rpm, you should measure 13.5-14.5 volts at the battery

    ???
    It fell off while you were riding? Or somebody nicked it the night before? Or you bought it that way and just hadn't noticed?!

    on the bright side if you just in 90,000 in 10,000k it'll be a brand new bike <!-- s:Biker1: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/th_Biker_1.gif" alt=":Biker1:" title="biker_1" /><!-- s:Biker1: -->

    yea the left fairing was there when i got on to ride it that morning, then just dissappeared.
    I must have been having too much fun to realise.

    also just wondering, while running along at 8-10000 revs, the bike seems to have a bit of a flat spot and takes a moment to realise that im demanding it to go faster. is this normal.
    ALSO when changing from 1st to second it seems like being clutch changed, then after that it doesnt mind being changed up wihtout the clutch. ALso jumping on the throttle to quickly from 1st to second sometimes throws it back into neutral which scares the hell out of me, and i have to readjust and clunk it either up or back down. maybe the thing is too old

    thats not unusual for it to slip out of gear if your reving high and pop the clutch when changing from 1st to 2nd but if your taking it easy id say you gear selector is worn
