Hey guys, I'm looking at a 91 FZRR and I've been told it's normal to idle at 3500rpm. I wanna confirm this with others, I had a look at FZRR forum and couldn't find any info but they share same service manual as fzr400 apparently and thy idle at 1600rpm. Mechanically I know it only had a roo racing exhaust ad the only mod and surely it wooing change idle by anything at all. 91 LN3L Thanks
Hey James I like the FZR250, I have been looking for a decent one to buy for a while now, but they seem to hold their value quite well. I have seen the tacho and yes it starts at 3k, however I belive the correct idle is 1500 - 1600 rpm according to a friend of mine. As for your question about how to set it to 1500 rpm, you can use a multimeter that can measure hertz (cycles) , probably best to google it as its quite hard to explain and I havnt done since 1992 on my first car, the might 1.6l Ford Escort 8) If you do use a multimeter, dont forget to times it by 60 as its measures cycles per second ie 25 cycles x 60 = 1500 RPM Are you giving up on the Across ? Chris
If it were 1600rpm, how would you know what the rpm is at on idle if tacho starts at 3k.. If the tacho started at 3000rpm it would make sense to be 3500rpm.. I haven't entirely given up on the across yet, my final fix is the new carbys and if there is no improvement i'll be so frustrated that i'd turn my attention to another bike, but then again all bikes of same price range run carburetors too.
