Does anyone have a list of parts that will interchange between the FZR models (i.e. 250, 400, 600, 1000)? I'm in the US and 250 parts have to be shipped from overseas. We have an abundance of the other bikes and it would be far easier to just buy those parts.....
Did the fzx250 'zeal' get released in the US? It has allot of common engine parts. If you use the Yamaha genuine parts program it can cross reference the different models. Just need to become friends with a dealer that has the program.
I'd check that one as i've cross checked Zeal parts before and they were different. Clutch is different, majority of engine components are different. Many bolt on parts are easily swapped though such as engine casings.
Not as a production bike as I remember. The only two-stroke that comes to mined was the RZ350 (83[yellow/white/black]-84{red/white/black} I think). I know that Canada got the TZ250 and the TZ500 as a friend of mine bought a TZ500 from up there.
Yes, the FZR was loosely based on the TZR 2 stroke and lots of peripheral parts are the same, levers, indicators, mirrors, possibly fairings and suspension. I was able to get a new mirror for mine by going to the dealers and looking up the TZR part (my bike was a 2KR)
The last two stroke streetbike imported to the US was the RZ350. Canada got the RG500, but we didn't. The smallest 4 stroke they sent us was the FZR400 of which there are still quite a few around. They also sold us the FZR600 steel framed for about ten years
but does anything from the bigger FZR's swap? Like the fuel pump, wheels, forks, shock, etc, etc.....
anything specific? i think the 400 is closer to the 600, but i also think you could swap things like pegs fuel pump brake calipers rotors etc from the 400, the 400 came out with a 18" rear wheel so that is a no go the rear shock maybe ok from 400.600 or 1000 the 400 and 600 share the same round headlights so i would think you could swap things like fairing stay upper cowl maybe even the swing arm i have a 400 as a second bike so if you want the measure something on your 250 i'll give you the measurements of the 400
I have a nice set of vmax calipers coming from ebay. They are the same as the FZR 600. My 250s calipers were frozen and there is no one over here that would touch them. Besides, I got these for 50 USD and they are like new. I couldn't even touch a rebuild kit for that. I am also going to pick up some FZR 600 forks and swap them out. I'll let everyone know how they work out. On the upside, they are sprung and valved heavier, so no more mushy front end....
Parts compatability: forks are model specific for the 3LN. I have found that most of the carburetor gaskets and o-rings are standard across the models except for the 400 which has a different part number. The FZR1000 uses the same fuel cock as the 250 (the 400 and 600 use a different style). I will post more parts as I learn more.
That would only be the early FZR1000's. The later FZR1000's swapped to electronic reserve with the fuel cock on the bottom of the tank.
So do the FZR 600 brake calipers fit 250 3ln forks? I have a 3ln trackky that needs new brakes. Can't really afford the 600 front end conversion yet and all the 3ln calipers i've seen in town are completely ******. Do a set of 600 forks just bolt right into the triple clamp or are they different? - I just thought this one looked funny.
The calipers from FZR600 are not compatible, 100% sure. I spent a lot of time looking into that when trying to replace a scorched small piston. The only other bike using identical caliper is from TZR. FZR600 is compatible with FZR400 ... it's not just the piston size, it's the bracket mount hole distance as well. So be prepared to do some fiddling if you bought FZR600 calipers ... so you are perhaps better off doing the whole front end swap, but I'd only do it if I don't have another choice ...
front brake calipers from a r1,the blue or gold spot ones. year 98 till about 2003 fit straight on a 2kr .100mm is the the caliper bolt spacing .xjrs, vmax ,r6 and a few others all same ,do not need to change master cylinder either. if 3nl same spacing they bolt straight on,plus u got better brakes
