I'm in a huge dilemma here. I've spent the last couple of months rebuilding my 93 FZR250. I am finally 95% complete, the bike is running well, the fairings are all together again and resprayed but I can't for the life of me get any damn globes for the headlight. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get them. I went to the Yamaha dealer and he ordered some from Sydney but they didn't fit, I've tried numerous wreckers but they won't part with the globes by themselves. The picture that came up on the yamaha dealers computer looked like the 2kr twin headlight but he assured me it was off the 3ln. Anyway here is a link to the exact headlight I have. I need 2 globes. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Yamaha-FZR250-FZ ... dZViewItem p.s. I tried calling the company on ebay they don't have any globes either!
i got my globes from repco? although i have a twin headlight 3ln if they dont have em instore im sure they can order em
If it looked just like a 2KR then he was showing you the parts manual for a 3LN-1 which had similar twin separate headlights. Yours is a 3LN-3 headlight or newer for future reference. Your options are to either run dual 50/55w and potentially drain the battery when not running at a decent rpm (depends on the rest of your bike's electrical system). You can run a single 50/55w globe in the twin projector, or you can continue to chase around for those rather difficult to find 30/35w (i think) globes that are stock.
I would take the chance putting higher wattage globes in but I can't even find globes that have the correct size base. It sure isn't a H4, much smaller. I'll keep trying. Might have to buy a whole bloody headlight assembly by the looks of it.
I found the globes at a servo with some old stock. My father told me they are the same as old Volkswagen H4's. try a Yamaha dealer, they may be able to get them in.
Thanks mate I think I'll rip the headlight out again and visit every wrecker/auto parts store I can find and I'll ask about the v dubs too. Cheers.
That's a bloody rip off!
Theres a great stockist of VW bits down at Rydalmere here in Sydney. I can't be assed finding the details right now but he isn't hard to find. (edit: not Silverwater)
Quick question, are these the same headlights? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FZR-250_W0QQitem ... dZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Yamaha-FZR250-FZ ... dZViewItem ?
My 3LN-3 driving light blew on the way home tonight. My Fizzer is my only working mode of transport. Did anyone figure out where to get the right glove and which one to ask for? Thanks For your help!!
I had to cancel the sale of my spare healight, The potential buyer was very good about it. Iwas going to send it the next day haha. I couldn't find any info online, but I may take the healight into a shop at some stage and see what they can do because my FZR is my only vehicle to commute on, so I can;t wait 2 weeks for a globe haha.
