Mike bike has been on standby for a long time. I would like to ask for a suggestion on how to keep it up and running. I bought a new battery and it won't start. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    1) Clean the carbies - old fuel has probably dried up in there and turned to jelly, which would make it difficult to run.
    2) Do a full service (including change oil and coolant)
    3) If it's been sitting there for more than 6 months i'd probably drain the fuel tank as well

and before you ride it, I'd consider changing the tyres (check to see if they've perished - ie the rubber is old and cracked)

After you have done all that, clean the carbs again. I'm not kidding.

Also whether you think you need it or not change the fuel filters, they get all full of crud and transfer it into the carbs. This will just save you the headache of cleaning carbs repeatedly. Just for my piece of mind, I usually drain my fuel system prior to storage. I use the gas (petrol) elsewhere like in my snowblower or snowmachine.
