I have seen that before, the other pictures of the flames and sparks engulfing the bike are quite spectacular.

The fact that it starts and runs for five minutes isn’t what I would call a true measure of how f*#&ed an engine is. I would rather see some figures on oil consumption and dyno runs before and after. Just remember that the bike probably would have burnt to the ground if they hadn’t stepped in with a fire extinguisher.

    Such a waste.

Yes, the rings go soft and lose their tension, and you would not know what damage/wear was done to the bore.

What? You never get over-run on your bike?

That one survived but many a japanese bike has fallen to the relaxed maintenance of a couple of my mates.

Case 1: The poor GPZ250. It don't need oil cause it just drips out so I"ll ride it dry so it don't up the driveway no more. Wonder why it ground to a halt on the freeway sparks coming from the exhaust.

Case 2: ER-500 apparently the oil idiot light on the dash are there to hassle you so your meant to put duct tape over them. 25,000km and never had an oil change or filter. Wonder why it used to boil the coolant in traffic and had zero compression. Quickest revving twin this side of a 2-stroke. Very little power though but still sold at a good price.
