My fzr's mirrors are scuffed(and one is chipped).Id like to buy a new set but i cannot source original 250 mirrors.
Does anyone have fzr 400/600 or 1000 mirrors fitted(round shaped)?I can get these new and in white and they are 47mm between hole centres so should fit but will they sit/look right?

Why not just go aftermarket?
I picked up a set of teardrop shaped mirrors for my FZR1000 and whilst they certainly don't look stock, i prefer the look of them over the Mickey Mouse ears any day!

I never considered aftermarket tbh as i didnt think there were any out there that would look right or fit right, especially fairing mounted mirrors.

Probably a really bad photo to demonstrate the mirrors... but it kinda get's my point across that they don't really stand out much. This photo was taken at about 10pm at night, so it's actually very very much dark. Was tinkering around with my new lens for my D70 and attempting to get some decent hand-held shots.

PS. as for the photography... well ignore the noise, and the lack of retouching, and just accept it for what it is.

It's far from stock.
The tail is a 2003 Honda Fireblade. The exhaust system has been custom built by a company called Manta Engineering who apparently usually do drag & custom car work. All up supposedly it puts out about 115bhp, although that figure has apparently been debated as perhaps 150hp (flywheel); we were told and i was far more interested in checking the bike thoroughly instead of listening to heresay. Either way, when it's had it's valve clearances done i'll probably take it down to the dyno's and see what it puts out and also check the CO2 & A/F through the rev range.

Next up is of course a tinted screen, but that'll have to wait until after the respray - speaking of which i'll be doing a vote for colour scheme and stickers when i get around to photoshopping some up. A little bit of a hint is that i'm leaning towards gun metal silver with a slightly lighter colour silver decals.

haha, 'ooooooh' and 'aaaaaaah'

Sounds real cool, how tough was it to mount the custom rear fairing? Im keen as to grab one of an R6 and see if I could work it around a little, not getting my hopes up though.

Im planning on going for more of a white colour actually, perhaps metallic or something. With gunmetal decals or something...

Looking foward to seeing how yours turns out!

I personally didn't fit the tail myself, but after stripping it down as part of the reassembly process saw that it's a very very good fit on this particular bike. Just a matter of a couple of mounting brackets and bobs your uncle.
I do need to actually do a bit of work on the tail section, but that'll probably wait until it's respray time; then i'll make sure i take a heap and a half of photo's so everyone can see what's under the skin.

Yeah man, definately do that...

Hey also about metallic-like paint for the fairings... suddenly Im not such a fan. I think the aerodynamic lines of the fairings tend to contrast nicely with the mechanical edges of the motor - a visual junxtaposition that works very well, especially when supported by your paint scheme.

Bearing this in mind Im leaning further from neutral greys and looking for a more deliberate (not necissarily bright though, Kawasaki green makes me shudder) colour to compliment the machine partially hidden underneith the plastic.

What do you think?

I just bought a pair of new side mirrors, which was taken off from a yamaha TRX 850, (http://www.roadrider.jp/RR_cockpitview/ ... 850-01.gif) and those can fold backward, very nice and cheap. the viewing angle also very good and wide.

Those mirrors actually look ok.
A little old school in the square shape, but still decent.

How much and where from?
