Hey guys enjoyin my bike so far, just had something to ask. Where do you check to get the brake oil level/reading?? I know it has a little box untop the right close to the brake lever, does that have anything to do with it?? And this afternoon i went for gas and i used premium unleaded, was that a good or bad choice??
that little box that says "yamaha" on it is the brake fluid reservior. there should be a sight glass to the front side facing the wind shield. Checking the level is the same as checking your engine oil level, fluid level should be somewhere in the middle. If the fluid is clear/yellowish, it's still good. If its dark green or black, get it flushed.
Thks i thought dat box had sumting to do with it, but when i look through the glass its not that clear so im not sure if its full, its not dark for sure, and my brakes work fine. I just wanted to know if there is some other way you can check the brake oil level when im makin my daily checks before i start to ride.
You could open it up, but I do not recommend doing that. Every time that you open it up, you are exposing the brake fluid to moisture... it's worst enemy.
Hey guys, still having trouble with checking this brake oil level on my fizzr. Think im gonna see a mechanic. Thks for all the advice though.
flui..d leak hey guys, the problems with my fizzer just keep on coming - just noticed today there's a touch of brake fluid around the front wheel rim - I guess I have a leak from the front caliper somewhere? Any tips on isolating its source and rectifying? I know there are tips on here for doing the brakes, I'm just interested in the hydraulics side really
clean all brake parts and lines with brake clean. then press and hold the brake lever HARD, if there's leak, you should be able to see where the fluid is coming out from.
Re: flui..d leak Check it is not a leak from the front fork drain plug. There is a little screw near the bottom on the outside. Speaking from experience here, cost me a set of pads as the fork oil drips on the disk when parked.
