I really don't understand the phobia people have of litre sports bikes.
I mean, yeah their powerful... but it's not like it'll randomly snap the throttle open and pop a mono without you having some input. ;)

I say they're a misunderstood gentle giant.
Seriously, go take one for a spin and after the 'OMG-POWAAAH' wears off you'll realise it's just like riding any other bike.

Life insurance, smife infurance... :p

I jumped on an '91 FZR600 yesterday. A mate's looking at buying a bike, and I thought while we're here, i might as well take it for a spin. I am considering getting a 600 as a track day bike, so it wasn't like i was just tyre bashing

Was a pretty stupid thing to do, in hindsight. Unregistered bike, unlicenced rider (well, for a 600), on a double demerit weekend.... doing 240km/h

Was pretty surprised at how quickly it got there, for an older bike. It also handled pretty well. at 240km/h it felt very similar to my little fizzer when it's struggling at 160km/h.

anyway, point is the 600 had plenty of up and go. Took away like a bullet, and was pretty nimble. I don't think i NEED more power than that, and I'd be happy to do without the extra weight that you get from a litre bike.
The 600 was also quite comfortable for my 6'3" frame.
