    Hey guys.
My engines got a bit of a miss. Can hear it fairly well through the lower rev range can feel it with my hand over the exhaust aswell. Before I get intrenched in overhauling the engine with my step dad. Has anyone had one before? And where did the source of their problem turn out to be? Valves?...

Could be plugs, plug wires, or even the plug cap. Valves are definitely something to check. Especially if they've never been checked.

hrmmm yeah the valves.... Not exactly the easiest bit to get to =\.
Plugs were just changed so not them.
Cables and leads it may well be. I'll have to get the multimeter out and check the electronics.

Like something is wrong. Odd viberation. Un-smooth idle. Rough throttle response. Lack of power (for a 250).

mine develops a miss when riding in heavy rain as well. Rather annoying cruising along the FWY in a nice torrential downpour and hear it drop a cylinder...Serious instant lack of power ;/

put your hand on the end of the exhaust... then rev the bike you should feel a linear output of exhaust on your hand. You can hear a miss aswell but if you can't hear it you'll feel it it will be like a putty sort of exhaust output throughout the rev range.

When I was riding at the track on the weekend I didn't notice it at all but then again I'm above 14K revs all of the time.

oh... and it's got 28,000 k's on the clock.. like that means anything though it's an import like everyone elses.
