Is anyone getting the 50km per litre claimed? i know it depends on how you ride but has anyone tried? Went for my first decent ride today im loving my little fizzer. Another thing how do you adjust that red speed light that comes on mine is set at 80km/h and its pissing me off i might just disconect it.

i spilt my beer when i saw that 50km/L spec too. Keep in mind its quoted for a factory new engine travelling at a speed of 50kph which is a ridiculous speed for any motorbike to be travelling at.
if you get 15-20km/L i'd say your doing fine.
Liamo your going too fast

50km/litre... yeah freefall through space.

15-20km/l is the norm... if your getting better than that consider yourself lucky. I think my worst record was 9.1km/l, but that was with clogged carbies, out of balance, and running rich on reeeealy bad fuel (Shell is baaad mmmkay?)

I guess I should be considering myself lucky then. I have been getting 22km/L. But then again I am only an L-Plater and can't go any faster than 80km/h

I can't remember where i read it but supposedly fuel consumption on 250's goes up dramatically over 100km/h... and sky rockets at 150km/h.

good to here that the fzr has good fuel economy under 80 km. Im getting my L's soon and hopefully buying one so, naturally ill be stuck at 80km. Looking forward to the time when i get my hands on one of these bikes, they sound like a nice bike to learn on, with a bit of power.

LOL, i never said they were fuel efficient. If you want efficiency go buy a CB250 or a CT110! FZR's are thirsty little buggers considering their only 249 c c engines; but with 4 carbs they tend to suck the juice pretty quickly when you get them screaming.

ill rephrase, "its good to hear FZRs have slightly better fuel economy under 80km". I dont really mind about fuel economy, id prefer power to economy any day.

I'm getting less than 11km/ litre - I think it's running a bit rich (that's when it's running, which it isn't at the moment, some electrical glitch I think).
