I'm heading of this weekend on a trip to Townsville to see a friend up there by car, was just wondering what things I can do up there as I will only be there for the weekend. Also will be staying at Gold Coast.. anything good to do there to? Any suggestions will be good <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s -->
Where on the gold coast? Lots of bars etc. to see. You can rent small scooters (no license required) for something like $20 for a couple of hours which is a bit of good fun. Just north of surfers paradise there is a good outlet mall if you want to do a bit of shopping.

I am going up to Townsville next month for a couple of weeks by car too. Mostly going to get away from work visit the rellys drink and I think we are going on a fishing trip. Not really much to do their but here is the lowdown, of spots you might want to look at. Castle hill - It’s a big hill in the middle of town with a lookout, weather station and an old WW2 pill box. Magnetic Island - just off Townsville, 10 - 15 min by ferry. It has a few bars and you can hire mini mokes and scooters. Be warned those cars are death traps! You can also hire jet skis at the bay on the far side of the island. Stay away from the zoo though, it is pez, definitely not worth the money. The strand - This seemed to be the main drag and runs along the beach. Plenty of pubs full of foreign backpackers all over the place <!-- s:rofl: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":rofl:" title="Rofl" /><!-- s:rofl: --> . The reef HQ place is a bit of a letdown too, you might like it if you like fish and stuff but it was a bit lame. Apart from that not much to do except go out of town to other places.
I hope to do some fishing in townsville, will only be there for the weekend.. will best spending most of my 2 weeks in gold coast.. i think the hotel i booked is in surfers paradise.. i cant even remember how sad.. being an original Queenslander.. hehe. Hows the weather in brisbane, gold coast atm?? warm enough for a swim u think?

There is a track day in Townsville on the 3rd of july from 12 to 6pm with a sausage sizzle afterwards. there will also be the 1hour bucket race on the 17th of July followed by sprint raceing. the local track is only 1k long. the classes are buckets, 250/4, 250/2stokes & 400/4, GP125, and formula RR which includes all the above classes plus supermono and super moto.
its been raining today...and for some reason its cold...i hasent been this cold for a few years, think it got down to 5-6 overnight
