Was playing around with my carbs and airfilter, and went for a ride around the block to test how it goes. my work made a bigg difference and the bike was quick. Didnt see him but a motorcycle coppa was behind me for like 30secs.. clocked me at 130 in a 60 zone (this is a bigg street) but he said i reached 160..

suspended license until court in 3 weeks..

i know its dumb speeding bla bla, but i was testing and there was no traffic..

i'll see you guys in 6months when they let me ride again.. thanks for all your help anyways..

cyas around

I'll be the ray-o-sunshine here..... At least it is during the winter that you cannot ride. Not all summer long.

I do not know what the weather is like in winter down there, but up here it is pretty damn cold.

But I am sorry to hear about it. Bummer indeed.

Heres hoping 6 months will fly by
quickly for you.

The thing with losing your licence, is the choice of when
you ride is taken from you. I would be guttered if it was me ....

160 in a 60 zone? you stupid bastard! wtf were you thinking.
You get no sympathy from me. I'm happy you lost your license. Its idiots like you on the road that either kill people or get killed.
The road may have been clear but what about the footpaths? kids riding there bikes, people walking their dogs. There is absolutely no way in hell that you would be able to forsee every single situation on the road.

Morons like you give bikers a bad name. You wanna go that fast then keep it on the track.

P.S
SUCKED IN!!!!! You dont deserve to hold a license you NOOB!!!!!!!!

no but seriously. how can he know whats further up the road? is he psychic? besides. In australia a 60kmph speed limit is placed on roads where there is pedestrian activity, traffic lights and driveways.

To start with bigkev, i understand that its a 60 speed limit for a reason. But this particular road i assure you should be atleast 80, and if its 80, i think a 100 speed limit is fair if your willing to risk it. Now i was clocked at 130.. i dont think i was going quicker than that, so its 130 not 160.

This was on bexly road if anyone knows of it. You know where the big bend down the hill next to the tennis courts are?

I dont ride like this everyday. This was a one off and i was unlucky. I have (had) a full license. Never had a ticket in my life (only parking tickets) so i have (had) my full 12 points.

I also dont think the 'noob' remark was warranted. I have never offended anyone on this forum or degraded someone based on a post. I was simply sharing my story. I would like to hear anyone’s opinion no matter how supportive or negative it may be, just keep the little remarks to yourself.

P.S bigkev, i dont know anything about you, but based on your post and lack of confidence in yourself i would bet my bike (no joke) that you would have no chance of catching me. Either on a track or on the road. This is my little remark. I usually keep them to myself but i dont appreciate being called a noob.

For everybody else on this forum, good day.

Gday

My 2 cents-

Sorry big kev it was a bit harsh.

Don't get me wrong 130 in a 60 is silly. he sounds confidant there was minimal risk. we all are guilty of **** ups at times and this is no different just as long as the rider takes responsibility for his actions.

by the way just speed is not the killer on our roads- how many times have i or my mates been almost killed on the bike or in a car 'cause someone didn't look or the road was inadequate or an oil patch on the road etc. And guess what- i've pulled out on people b4 too! But i learned from it...

just chill a little big kev. dispence your advice but remember we are all human and deserve a bit of respect

I believe in constructive posts, name calling or direct attacks will not pass your point of view.

However I can understand the point BigKev is making and I can also understand sherif's view.

I think Big Kev is taking the worse case possibility..with narrow, cars parked on side streets, primary schools down the road, and twisty corners.

As people have said, everyones gone over the speed limit. Though I havn't done 130 in a 60 zone...I have done 200 on a fwy.

But seriously...I dont think there was any need for put downs. I know certain roads with no houses either side...they are long and straight and you can see for miles..and they are posted 60 km/h. People do make mistakes. Im sure he didn't post on here to get abused by people, but instead get the opinions of others.

I personally believe it was a bit of bad luck..and a bit of stupidity. But then again...isn't everything stupid if you get done by the police. Id feel stupid if I was caught doin 130 in a 100 zone.

Hay man funny story, the EXACT same thing happend to me !! I was tinkering with my carbs ect just as you were and it made a big perfomance increase on my bike, i was out testing it just like you and a motorcycle cop got me aswell !!. 115kph in a 50 zone. but i got much worse that 6months. i copped a $2000 fine and lost my licence for TWO YEARS !!

ive got one year down, so one more year left to go. for me the cop who got me said at that speed in such a slow zone is reckless hence the punishment. badluck i guess

Thats a bad go aye.

I went to court and ended up getting 12months. Got fined only $700 i think. (Im working full time, so the 12months hurt alllooooott more than the $700)

I have since learnt that the roads are there for everybody. By travelling at such *stupid* speeds in 50/60 zones puts you at risk, but even worse others that use these roads.

I think i have this change of heart because i actually had a stack on my mates bike. I was going quick in a 70zone i think. Little oil on the road and alittle too much lean and i was off. What if this happen in the area where i lost my license? I pretty sure i would have ended in a tree.

Like somebody said on this post, if you wanna speed like that, GO TO A TRACK.

I feel for you guys, losing the choice to ride for so long.

We all go out, not always thinking about the consequences
of our actions until its too late.

Only thing you can do after that, is chalk it up.

Hear, hear!

PS, how *badly* does a helmet save you? I saw slidding for a long time, have burn marks on my knees, screwed my ankle and a heap of cuts, but my head/neck was fine through the whole thing. Even saw sparks!
