left the ignition on for 8 days came back to a flat battery.
silly me, the key comes out even when its in the ON position.

Anyway can i push start the bike and then just ride it around to charge it up or do i have to charge it up 1st.

I suspect I need to charge it up for the fuel pump to work.

You need to charge the battery up using a battery charger. Just riding it around won't work.

If you can push start it then you should be good to go. While riding around won't work quickly, it will eventually work. (I've done the same and I didn't have a charger so I rode it for a while and all was fine). However it is easier and worthwhile to invest in a charger - only $30 for a inexpensive little one - they come in handy!

ended up charging for 24 hours but the battery cant crank the bike more than a few times. Conclusion the battery is dead.

So now i am looking at getting a sealed battery 13.5cms x9cms

Any ideas where to look for good value?

    Cheers

I don't know where to go but will tell you that I bought a replacement battery for the fzr250 and it cost me $70. I think that was on the high end, but I wanted to ride (was heading to superbikes that weekend and it was the only one I could get my hands on in time).

p.s. when I said 'high end' I meant in terms of the price bracket. It was a 'president' brand battery - one that I had never heard of before. So I think I paid the 'high end' for a low end battery! <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Hey kev, How old is the battery? If it is more thana year, I'd think about replaceing it. The FZR line of bikes loves a fully charged battery, not a wimpy one.

On my old fzr I did about 30 000 k's. When I first bought it it had new plugs. I replaced teh plugs about 15 000 k's in. These ones lasted till the end of the my reign over the bike.

Also (re:battery and comment above) - the 250 battery is VERY small for an electric start bike. So put that in combination with the comment above ...
