After borrowing my friends CBR250 I noticed how sluggish my throttle responds compared to his bike.

This just a case of needing tune up?

    Specifically what?

    Thanks,

I felt my throttle sluggish when i placed mobile preiumn in there.. i moved back to caltex vortex and my bike was back to normal.. so maybe the fuel. easiest thing to check first.

And if it isn't the fuel, you could need to tune carbies, clean / replace air filter, ... pretty much anything that could impact fuel/air mixing and igniting.

So could be many things... but start with the fuel and then move onto tuning.

    Thanks

Tried different fuels.. seem to get best performance with BP Ultimate.

Plan on changing the fuel filter today..

Anyone know where I can find a 2KR air filter?

Changed airfilter today. Got a nice UniFilter washable one. Seeing all shops I spoke to didnt stock original thought I mayaswell get the performance one that I can wash.

Its made a bloody nice difference!

Really notice it down low... seems to have bit more torque.. runs smoother and generally a lot happier. I can see my fuel efficiency improving alot now as its happy to put along at alot lower revs than before.

Next on list is fuel filter. Had a good look today and it looks quite dirty.. appears to have blackish shadows inside it when light on it.

    Thanks,

Changed fuel filter the other day..

Jeebus it was dirty. Element was almost black, and chunks of crap all inside it.

Of course shop didnt have replacement one, so I had to use a VFR 750 filter. Exactly the same apart from the inlet/outlet diameter sizes were a little bigger.

    Very pleased with the results from these two easy changes <!-- s:o --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_surprised.gif" alt=":o" title="Surprised" /><!-- s:o -->

hey Step, how much was the unifilter, do you have a part number?
also for the fuel filter? did the different sized outlets on the fuel filter cause you any dramas?

$60 or something. I got direct from them in Hornsby

Mine was the top one.. 2KR. I assume the other would be 3LN.

    YAMAHA FZR 250 88/90 NU 2296
    YAMAHA FZR 250 91/98 UF300 190

The different size pipes on the fuel filter wasnt much trouble. Just had to push a little harder to get fuel line back on.
