Hi everyone, this is our first attempt at a café racer. The bike I bought for $300, it has 40,000km on her and was in a guys garage for the past 20yrs. He tried to do some things but it was like you would expect a wreck to start with.
We made the seat pan so far out of a sign I found at work, me made a small tray to hold the electronics under the seat from a gutter outlet from bunnings. We bought exhausts from mostyn industries in qld, we got a café speedo off, ebay along with a tan seat and bullet blinkers.
I have sprayed the frame gloss black, and most of the smaller items, I have cut the front guard down and sprayed it and the tank british racing green, the motor will be sprayed matt black.
I have attached some pics, and will put more up as I go.
Please comment and give me any suggestions. With the speedo no matter what I did, I could not get the neutral light to light up, I even put a relay on it but it did not work.
The exhaust had holes, so we have welded them up, and put titanium wrap on them.
The budget was $1400 including the cost of the bike so far we are about $300 over that.
The bike is currently all torn down, painted and ready to be re-built.

    Hi spudley
No I will keep the tank I gave just sprayed it British racing green, I was going look at other tanks but the budget didn't allow at this stage.
I really wanted to get clip on bars and other foot pegs. Maybe on the next build
What would you recommend for another tank

    Looks good.
The neutral light, being an LED is polarity sensitive, and will never work if hooked up in the original manner. If you can work out a way to reverse the polarity of the switching it will work, but otherwise just do without it.
