So she is in my possession. Drove her home last night. I didnt realise how hot they got, that needle rises high in traffic
that they do, get them out on the open road and they run just under halfway Congrats on the purchase, how about a Garage write up ? http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?showcase/
Ill get one don't as soon as i get home So there is no helping the heating issue? New aftermarket radiator, thermostat or pump etc Is it going to blow up my engine if im stood still for too long?
Mine doesn't seem to get too hot, but I ride like an old lady. I'd start by making sure the thermo fan is kicking in. (if not check the fuse) if so at what temp? Does your fan still have all it's blades? if the radiator covered in crud? is the radiator core full of crud?
Ill get looking tonight. I wasn't driving hard, it just started getting hot driving slow through fremantle.
Best way to check is to leave in running and watch the temp gauge creep up, it should get to just over 75% then the thermo fan should kick in
U have couple options one rewire fan so on a switch and leave on or wack a per rad on this is on my race bike and haven't had issue yet bigger and made from ally
Also remember they have a small rad a rev high = get hot then pull up a lights with no air flow= temp goes up like kiffsta said check ur fan kicks on when it gets 3/4 is best start
Thanks mate. That rad looks pretty big, do the fairings fit on still? Ill check the fan tonight, i didn't notice it come on last night but i really wasnt listening out for it.
Don't think it would for on standard fairings I have 600 fairings on Also does it have water or coolant in rad as water has lower boiling point
check you coolant mate, see if it is coolant and not water. as the guys said check that the fan is kicking in and that you have no issues and check that there is no air lock in your coolant system. also if you need any info on track days ect let me know.
So I finally checked the fan, it does come on towards the h8gh end of the temp gauge. Seems like it has coolant, think it was green looking? But im going to change it for a better brand any way. Got quoted 450 for 2 new Bridgestone s20 evo tyres. Does that seem like a good price/choice? Moo, I'd love some info on track days. I have been searching perthstreetbikes.com and it seems i missed the December one. Also thinking of doing the BART on Jan 9th. I just don't have much confidence in the bike/me yet.
Take it to a professional radiator place and get them to flush it. They have equipment that the good ole garden hose cannot compete with. Mind you I have never had a motorcycle radiator flushed (I have not ever had issues with overheating)
contact motor cycle masters in Kewdale and have a look at Pirelli Diablo Rosso II they do them for a good price, $3something fitted. Or if your in need of a front Tyre let me know, I've a just shy of brand new one sitting there that came off the ninja....errrrrmmmmm this one....not sure of the name as i'm not in my garage....been meaning to put it on bumtree. also if your looking at track days go on to the trakdayz.com.au website and sign up, also sign up to the FB page. they are having a trak day on the 10th of jan, they only released it tonight, book into group one and i promise you it will be fine, they will teach you all my friend! that i promise!
nulon green coolant which has extra cooling , anti freeze-anti boil.saw a different brand in the bike shop yesterday that guaranteed 15 degrees c lower temp. when i change radiator hoses am going to try.
So i got a new front tyre today, battlax BT45 (i think) $130 fitted. I have the same tyre on the rear with good tread so i figured id match. Fitted by motorcycle pit stop, nice guy, tightened up my clutch. First longish ride on the free way today, ears are ringing still ha ha. So i noticed a tapping from the left foot peg, doesnt seem to do it when the throttle is off only when on. Could this be Chain??
The guy who fitted my tyre and adjusted the clutch had a little look at the chain (didnt tell him about the knock i was telling him about the hard to find N) he said it seems fine and was only the clutch that needed adjusting.
