Can anyone please help with how to determine what shim sizes I need to get my valves back in spec and also a good place to buy them cheers
Readings were as follow Cylinder 1: Exhaust 0.15mm , 0.15mm Intake 0.18mm, 0.15mm Cylinder 2: Exhaust: 0.9mm, 0.12mm Intake: 0.15mm, 0.11mm Cylinder 3: Exhaust: 0.13mm, 0.15mm Intake: 0.13mm, 0.17mm Cylinder 4: Exhaust 0.15mm, 0.15mm Intake 0.14mm, 0.15mm
shim is a 7.5 same as all the inline 4 250's. all intake are good, exhaust need to come up to .2-.29. measure your current shim and add the necessary clearance on. eg, if your shim size for exhaust on cylinder one is 140 get a 130 to add .1mm. go to your mechanic and swap them, most will charge 5-10 bucks per shim.
So the intakes that are just under spec ok or should I change them too? I'll take the shims out and measure them tomorrow
Where to buy shims Hey everyone iv finally worked out the size shims I need to buy where is the best place to get them and what sorta price? Cheers
What's the local dealer like on prices? Sometimes if you ask nicely they will swap them for the ones you want.
I'm going to check the local dealer tomorrow and possibly tim what price do you want I need 11, also does anyone know the diameter the shims actually are for the zxr I couldn't it in the manual
7.5mm diameter, most mechanics will charge for them all bike shops will have shims, 7.5mm is used in dirtbikes aswell.
