Haven't posted here for a while, so here's a general update of the last week or so: Removed, stripped cleaned and reassembled the carb on the KLR650. Polished the faded plastic bits with Dubbin leather dressing after reading a thread @Murdo, @GreyImport, @Th3_Huntsman and others had mentioned it in - came up a treat, btw! Removed the carb from Scarlet and removed a grease-covered object that was vaguely carb-shaped from Bruiser. Cleaned it up and put it in Scarlet - tested and she ran quite well. Tried her again today and didn't have as much luck. I'll post an update in CB250RS build thread later in the week - hopefully I can trace the front right indicator short and take her for a rego inspection on Friday before I head to Melbourne for the weekend!
Replaced Jack's rear brake pads and took Scarlet for a sneaky test ride after fixing the indicator issue by swapping out an indicator mount at the front. She's ready for a rego inspection now!
Had a mates wedding last night so bit dusty lol but ran some demineralised water through and now some vinegar and water mix
New mirrors from Singapore , new tinted screen , front wheel off for the new tyre , pads out for replacement ..... and a ghetto centre stand
Testing the lean angle of the ZXR ..... Moral of the story ...dont lean 3 wheels on a bike thats on blocks Thankfully the shed wall took the weight and not the bodywork stored on the ground behind.
Looked at the CTP + rego figure for 12 months on the rego reminder for Rosie and decided to let it expire unless I can figure out what's draining her battery. A 650 costs almost as much as a small hatchback to register in the ACT!
Fixing the crash damage on the TDR250 after my fast crash at Eastern Creek 3 weeks ago. Painted the repaired exhaust. Straightened out the clutch cover guard. New handlebar. Replaced the rear brake bits that we couldn't find when we walked the track and got the rear brake working. New front brake hose but we haven't got all the air out yet. Soldered and taped the kill switch wire and refitted it. Fitted new clutch lever and perch. Refitted twist grip, brake master cylinder and RHS bar end plug. Wiped lots of dirt off. 2 weeks to go until I race it again at Wakefield Park.
So crook as but decided to put new thermostat and oring in cbr bungs in belly pan just waiting for race clips for belly pan fairings and she good to go Tried hole size on fzr belly pan to check before drilling in cbr first
Went to MCAS in the city this morning and bought an Rjays tail bag to go with my panniers. I'm heading out to a mate's place at Dubbo in a few weeks and needed a bit more space but I didn't want a rack and I can't stand tank bags. Photos tomorrow.
I like tank bags because if they fall off they will hit your knee on the way past so you know you've lost them.
Took my 250 Maico out with a mate to a bike park north of Tamworth. There had been 20mm rain yesterday so I knew it wouldn't be dusty. The Granite sand was great for traction, but as we climbed higher into the clay things became sticky. Some how we ended up on the 'expert' loop (we are NOT experts) and found ourselves going down into a valley. Both wheels locked and sliding down hill and the only way to stop was to lay the bike down. Did a bit of damage to the plastics and a tear in the seat, me just covered with mud. We followed along the bottom of the valley thinking it would be an easier way out, but when you go down you have to come up again, and it took us about two hours to get up the side of the valley and back to the car. My speedo showed we had done 22Km, but even with all the pushing and wheel spinning I bet my back wheel has done 100Km. I got home and put into shed, too tired to look at it now. In fact, so tired from all the pushing and walking up and down slippery hills I am having trouble lifting my f i n g er to t y p e ..........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Between the panniers and the tailbag I've now got about 60 litres of space to carry the essentials and it's all down nice and low. It doesn't turn the bike into a tourer by any means, but the thought of getting away for a few days on a bike again certainly appeals.
Took cbr for first ride just in front of house not to attract unwanted attention lol it loud only got into 2nd and tested tyre warmers they r toasty
