We all need a resurgence at times in our enthusiam for a long term project .... looking forward to see your progress! You want frustration ? Ill lend you my FZR for a month Good to see they sorted the swingarm Theres loads of aftermarket rear shocks ..... and chances are there will be some that are better than what was produced in 1987 Cant see any reason not to have something like this up the other way ....
Hey Kerz Good to hear from you, thought you might have gone "walkabout". Frustration can do that. Never mind mate, it's a new year and things can only get better, just ask grey. Don't worry to much about the parts not grouped correctly, happens to all of us at some stage. Should you get stuck you know you have plenty of back-up here on the forum. I agree with grey, the seat loop can go either way. Gotta run, good to hear from you and keep us posted.
Ok guys so the time has come to cut the seat rails short for the rear loop. I've seen a few pics where guys have cut through the trailing edge of the rear gusset for the loop. Can anyone fill me in on the limitations of altering these gussets, if any, and is it still RW if I cut the rear gusset slightly as it tapers unfavourably back towards the ground. *(EDIT) - also this is an old pic
Where are u planning on cutting it exactly? As far as it passing roadworthy I did have something about altered bikes and the rules but Ill have to track it down
Finally! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Rbl-3jKdbWo/U3i3P8MWz7I/AAAAAAAAAgs/_5VeyiM19Fg/w1203-h853-no/CBX250 Keihin Carb.jpg
Hey Kerz, I just picked up a 1987 CBX 250. It was safetied and on the road this summer so I am not looking to do a complete rebuild but I am interested in doing the carb at minimum. I would like to do exhaust, pod filter and carb. I am also interest in knowing how you made out with the change in gear ratios and where the coil overs on the rear suspension came from? Have you made any more progress? Any luck with the running a pod filter to empty out the centre of the frame?
Also for a bit of inspiration check out this CBX250 cafe racer. This is one of the only completed examples I have been able to find. Hope they don't mind me posting their pictures. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HONDA-25...6873268?pt=AU_Motorcycles&hash=item20eee400b4
Hey Kerz, sorry for resurrecting this from the dead but did you get any further with this project? I've recently picked up a little CBX250 and there's **** all information on the internetz about them. This thread is probably the most informative that I've found. Just about to strip mine down this weekend and get it powder coated next week. Also managed to find some rear aftermarket shocks that are fairly similar to the stock units.
Nice looking bike. Be aware when buying shocks that not only the eye to eye length is the same, but also the stroke of the piston is the same.
Well there should be a package waiting for me when I get home with the shocks inside. They were listed specifically for CBX250 1984-1986 so should hopefully be correct. If not they were only $150 delivered (it was 10% off when I purchased). http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131358252588?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT He was also offering them with black springs instead of white. I'm going to start my own thread instead of hijacking Kerz'. Stay tuned for updates over the weekend.
