I didn't know where to post this. So I'm putting it here feel free to move it to its proper location.
So I wanted to buy a paddock stand today to make the year down of the zxr a lot easier then trying to do it on its side stand. So I called around a few places and top gun yamaha in Ipswich was closest and they said they had some good ones in stock. When Myself and my girlfriend walked in all 4 people behind the counter glanced up then away. I didn't think much of it.

I had never been to this store. So it took me a while to find the stands. I then started looking for a price tag. Now this whole time the 4 people were now wondering around adjusting displays and what not. Hey kept looking over and I made eye contact for them to come over. Nope not one. So I was getting annoyed a little. So after waiting for someone to come help. Someone finally came over and asked if I need help. I was pointed to 2 different types of stands which I was told that was for the the rear. When I went to pay for it the guy asked why I was buying a front stand. So I explained that I had been told it was for the rear this was his reply " I have been a mechanic for 10 years so I know what stand is what." He then continued telling me how I was wrong in identifying the stand. So I told him not to worry I would go spend my money else where.
Basically the store stared was horrid and I will not be going back.
    Rant over.

Bike accessories stores are hard to come by these days as team homo have ability to buy big at low prices I know it was not team homo but they all same they think they are the holy grail and expect you put up with this as they are in control!!!
I went to team homo about a full system fmf for my old drz they wanted nearly 1000 bucks and I found a wholesaler who was selling for 600 I told them and they said go there they don't care! Which is fine I wasn't asking them to match but come closer as it was easier to buy from there but they laughed and said whatever! I emailed guy got it and both were happy he obviously made money but the bike shop would make more and were happy to take me for the cash I have now decided not to shop at these places but local guys and pay extra for the service

This was more of I needed on by the weekend sorta thing. Plus the staff at team moto moorooka was awesome. I got a hello and introduction before I even walked in the door and as soon as I was in side there was one guy behind the counter and he stopped what he was doing to help me. For my accessories and spare parts I would gladly go back. But I wouldn't put it in the mechanic work shop. Lol

I think it all comes down to the individual store. I got nothing but help and discounts. But I have had issues with springwood team moto. So I won't go back to that one

It's looking like I will have a full on day Friday. Want to swap it to Saturday. That way got the whole day to do it. And gives us more time to have a couple brews while working on it hahahaha. I wouldn't want to keep it from you while I rebuild the bike. Is it cool to borrow it when I plasti dip the wheels?

You just don't shop there anymore...pretty hard to compete with online sales... I'm surprised they roll out the red carpet for you. Its a whole new world.... we are not compelled to shop locally

I support the local Honda dealer when I can, he will sometimes be a better price than Ebay (not often) but I always check his price first. I believe we need to support the 'Good' local shops when we can as I like being able to go to the shop when I need a part TODAY.
There are five shops in this town of 50,000 people and I have been 'bitten' by three of their workshops (including the Honda dealers) and will never while my arse points to the ground take any of my bikes back to them. I will buy parts/accessories if the price is right, but NO mechanical work. The other two workshops I have never been into as I don't get on with the owners.

I agree completely agree with you here. And I am doing the same thing as you. I will only get accessories and parts if I need them ASAP. I am still waiting on a fuel tank cap to come in the post and it's been almost 4 weeks.

Big ups for this place when it comes to bike stands http://www.kaneg.com.au/

Had one for my Z750 brilliant little thing, was quite well priced too. Sometimes they'll give you a discount, I was a member of perthstreetbikes.com at the time and got a pretty generous % off.
