mmmmm this little mod plus a quick action throttle sounds like fun i have seen some for sale but they have throttle cables aswell, not sure if they will fit, also saw a throttle grip for a zxr750 that is described as a quick turn but its a genuine kawasaki part and doesnt look any different from the stock tube i have now.
decided to go and get a zx10r throttle tube from an 06, would recommend it, for 20 bucks you cant go wrong. doesn't make a massive difference but definitely a shorter turn than the stock tube.
Speaking of throttle mods. I'm not a fan of the throttle being in the switch block. And I have a cbr throttle and cables. Has anyone ever tried to put a cbr throttle on a zxr so the throttle is separate from the switch block?
The switch block on my bike actually slides up and down. I would say the anchor hole is stretched. Also the concept seems odd to me. And it seems like there is a lot more pieces to mis place inside the switch block.
there is a metal anchor on the backside of the switch block, you will need to remove the switch block from the bike, punch back in a bit and line it up with the hole in the handlebar, once its back in properly, it wont move
Good work Venom. I was going to do this (second hole) mod to my drag bike as soon as the basics are sorted. I was going to start with 1mm and see what happened. Given you went to 2.5mm whitout any issues, I'll probably do the same. What the spring mod you're talking about? Frank
I don't know. The quicker the bike gets revved up, the quicker it gets in to the next gear and technically it should cover the 1/4 mile quicker. I wouldn't think this mod would have any affect on air/fuel as from what I understand that's metered by the carbs (I'm probably wrong!). The quicker the carbs open the quicker it should rev...right?
Thanks, no spring mod it was mentioned earlier in the post that if I go to big I might have to put a heavier spring in to stop the slid flapping around. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
Bumping this thread, I performed the mod to my C model today. Based on this thread and the ZXR400 instructions, I went with an additional 2.5mm hole next to the existing hole (also 2.5mm on my carbs). Results - improved throttle response when in the correct gear. However, if you are in a high gear at low speed and low rpm, I found that it would bog down and behave far worse than standard. I would say the perceived better performance is worth it.
Exactly as advertised and better than spending $80 on the "Sigma Racing Carb Kit" that gives you a piece of paper and a drill bit.
I'm feeling positive as to the difference I'll feel when going for a fang - and yep, for the best price of zero dollars and some of my own time
I did mine around this time last year, drilled out the 2x 2mm hole's in each slide to 2.5mm I did feel a bit of difference to the response
