Sounds more like fuel starve than flooding. You'll smell the fuel if it's flooding. More likely there's crap in the carbies, or the filters blocked.
The bikes are going well, I'm pretty flat out with Christmas atm but I will get some pics up when I get a little more time. Btw the carby main jets were blocked and the float bowls were full of crud. This was just the beginning....

Hey guys, I'm having some issues with the Ninja. Yesterday when I was changing the spark plugs I noticed a large amount of burnt oil built up along the fwd/lower edge of the valve cover. SO... I've just removed the valve cover and it's full of oil, also when I changed the spark plugs yesterday there was alot of oil on the rh cylinder spark plug thread. I've checked the valve cover gasket and it looks ok, but im an electrician guys, pulling engines apart is not yet my forte, but any help would be much appreciated as I am very worried this is the end of my Ninja already. Thats how it should be, lots of oil lubricating the cams & valves etc. It's just your tappet cover leaking a little bit. Replace it & all will be well.
The gaskets get compressed over time and heat and lose their elasticity. Replace the gasket making sure to clean the mating surfaces before fitting.
I think I may have been unclear in the first post. I meant the spark plug well when I was talking about it being full of oil. I was leaning more towards the egg shaped spark plug seal, do you really think its the valve cover seal? Or possibly both? Also is kerosene ok to clean the mating surface and gasket before I apply some three-bond?
By the look of all the oil over the length of the seals, maybe the cover just wasnt on tight enough . Pull off all the rubber seals and clean and dry them and clean off all traces of oil on the mating surfaces. And torque the cover bolts to the recommended setting. Then if it still leaks do as suggested above and replace the seals.
In relation to the above post, S.P seals were misaligned and the gasket goop on the valve cover had been caked on numerous times without being cleaned. Hey presto, she's beautiful now, also did the valve clearances while i was in there. I'm in the process of sanding to spray it a different colour, gunna go with dark metallic blue with some pattern and decals. Lots of repair work though: had to replace bodgy fibreglass jobs, re-inforce with abs glue, re-create tabs for bolts with FG, etc. Hope it looks good when it done, so it's all worth it.
Good work, you've done well to set the valve clearances while there. I'm not much of a believer in gasket goo's, nothing better than a new good fit gasket, a bit like a shifting spanner, convenient sometimes but better with a socket or ring spanner. I bought some "Plastex" & gave it a go on the ZXR fairings on the weekend & very happy with the result, it does just what they say it should, there's a maleable block that you can reproduce broken parts from that would probably work well, worth a look. I had to buy it off ebay from a local seller as tey in america didn't reply to my request for a shipping cost.
I'd be very interested to know where you got the plastex from, I couldn't source it from anywhere locally. I had to make my own out of abs and acetone and I'll tell you what, it's definitely not easy to work with.
