Doing a grave dig on speed delimiters today and found https://www.cbr250.com/threads/destricting-the-speed-on-a-cbr250rr-l-quick-method.265/ However the photos that were posted with it no longer exist, is there any chance that someone has them or can tell me where the 3.3k ohm resistor goes, which colour wire/connector to use. I have a MC19 not a mc22 (rr) but circuit diagrams are the same, apparently the resister convinces the black box/CDI that speed is still under 180kph or that the speedo is still connected so dont limit the revs. Brian
My MC-19 that I use as a track/drag bike, I just took the speedo off and no problems. The Kawasaki's need the resistor or they don't rev with no speedo.
The easiest way around these Speedo restrictor circuits is just to remove the speedo drive cable. Fine for race bikes, not on a road bike as you also lose the odometer. The restriction is a Hall effect / magnetic sensor on the back of the speedo face that triggers a circuit at or near 180km/h. So you want your resistor on the wire that goes from the restrictor to the TCI. You will need to pull the speedo out and apart to find which wire it is. If you just cut or disconnect the wire, the restriction becomes active at all times (effectively becomes a lower rev limit) So you need to fool the TCI, hence the resistor inline.
Do you have a J or K? J's have a speed warning light and no limiter, K's have a speed limiter and from what I can see disconnect the amber with a blue stripe wire on the ECU and you should be good to go. I could be wrong
Thanks, I will have to have a gander when I get home next month, mine is a J but the circuit diagram shows a wire going from the speed sensor to the ECU just hard to read the colour numbers from the black and white scan.
Thanks for the diagram, much better copy than mine I see the 6th wire on spark unit is missing on the J hence no feedback. The ABU wire on the J goes directly to the overspeed bulb. Saves a trip to Eastern Creek ; )
The attached file is great. However, I was taking my speedo apart anyway to put a new MPH face on it. So I just unscrewed the two screws holding the limiter circuit board and routed it outside and cable tied it behind the instruments in a sealed see through polythene bag. This also removes the speed limiter as the rotating disc no longer has any effect.
