hi guys! i just got my Ls a weeks ago also picked up a 2010 megelli 250r. the bike is a nice ride but since i don't know much about bike i thought i picked up a lemon. after a few weeks with it, i thought i just what to talk about it since there isn't that many info out there at all for the megelli so i maybe this might help a owner of one out there cause i know that i need help. plus so people don't get put of by it and i also have a lot of question that maybe some of you guys can help with.

    1. bike wouldn't start after a few day of just not riding, push start and it work you just had the battery change and it work fine now. battery is located under the tank, real bad place to put it, you would need an extra pair of hands to help you.

    2. cold start! does have a bit of a hard time with a cold starts then other bikes i think, after i start her up i just keep the rev up with choke then once i ride i just rev it up a bit more to warm her up then she runs fine.

    3. clutch. when i first took the bike home i find that i have to clutch almost all the way in to change gear, also its impossible to find neutral.. (i think everyone has that issues) anyways so i ask a mate to have a look. he adjusted the clutch so now i just need to clutch a bit to change maybe an inch plus i can find neutral too!

    4. neutral. so i can find N a lot easier now but sometimes at the lights ill try to get into N the selector i think thats what its called, (you know where you put your feet to change gears) it goes stiff on me can't even shift in to gear 2. so thats still a bit of an issues.

    5. service. I'm trying to service the bike myself, since no knows anything about a megelli at the shops on oil, oil filter, spark plugs etc.. it took a while to find the info on my 2010 not sure if its the same for the other model.

oil. on the manual it says SJ 5w40. so i went to peter steven, the dude said the 5w40 we stock here are for like high performances racers (like for a ferrari lol) so he said the 10w40 should work find, 5w or 10w is something to do with the start up. anyhow i got he 10w40 haven't change the oil yet so will see how we go.

oil filter, i don't know anything about it where it is, what it looks like, or does the bike even have one. haha so if any one knows please update me cheers.

spark plug. on the manual it has RG6YC. i looked it up online and i think its a champion brand or something but i can't find. so i ended up using getting a alternative brand NGK CPR8E on ebay. waiting for it to get deliver so fingers cross that its the right one and that its not a fake or anything like that haha. also i think the spark is located on the right side of the bike as u sit on it look down to your right its between the tank and side fairing.

sorry guys thats all i know so far about the service part. if any one out knows anything at all about the the megelli don't be shy and come talk about it. i have only been on a bike for a few weeks but i truly believe that you can a lot more for other riders as you would from riding. cheerio

thanks to risky for this info: The oil filter is on the right hand side and you have to take the lower fairing off. let me know your problems. with the battery put a motobatt in and it will last. also fit a positive and negative wire to a place you can access to charge.

hi guys i have come across another problem please help! so i have a new battery put in when i got the bike. last night after coming home from the spurs i ride the bike in to my backyard then i store. now the bike won't start and the flat battery light is on. prier to that the past few days the bike seem to have a little trouble starting, feels like the battery is weak.

so I'm think that the battery isn't charging when I'm riding. any one had any problem like that? anyone have any solution before i take the battery out and back to the shop to be tested? cheers

Did you by any chance disconnect any electrical connectors besides the terminals? Check them all first. Was the key left in any position other than 'off'?

If your mate has a multimeter, borrow it and see what the battery voltage is sitting at. If none of your mates have one, go and get a cheap and nasty one from Dick Smith or Jaycar. Will definitely come in handy later on down the track.

hi jim. I'm sure i only just change the battery didn't touch anything else also made sure that every thing was the same before putting the tank back haven't said that i must have a another check maybe i might disconnect something. do you know how many voltage the battery should be sitting on?
i got a feeling that this issue was hand ball to me by the old owner :(

Jim is correct .... get yourself a multimeter

    http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/on...Automotive.aspx?pid=4405&menuFrom=40308#Cross

    Then follow this guide ....

    http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/how-do-i-test-my-12-volt-battery-and-charging-system.1794/

If you have been doing alot of starting and riding only short distances it may wear down your battery especially if its not in top shape.
Some decent long riding is needed to give it a proper charge ..... or a decent time on a battery charger.

Also if its a cheap China battery it just wont cut it in the long run.

ok toxic, if the bike has been sitting or ignition left on they will quickly go flat, same if battery is overcharged,if battery cover not on they can short out. only battery i like is motobatt and the original yuasa is crap.if you need parts i have a spares bike.or new is cheaper than the jap stuff. use my name with sinh.battery if new should be ok but has ewater got in the electrics. another problem is the clutch housing has 2 cogs from the starter and if the internal housing breaks will jam up till the starter shears the teeth off the cogs.also while the tank is off adjust the valves as they are touchy. a sure sign is difficulty starting when hot.inlets 6 thou of an inch, exhaust 8 thou.if a bit more open no worries as they tend to close up. should pull 140km/h

only charger to use is a self regulating one.

voltage regulator is sealed and at rhside of seat. check the contacts and spray with contact cleaner. jaycar has ayellow can for 11.20$or i have bigger cans for 20 to non forum members. doubt if the post would accept.also have a set of tyres part used cheap.

    set idle at 1400 rpm.

What voltage is the battery when the bike is off?

A battery needs to be charged overnight (if its low) and should be 12.6v when 100% charged

Running it in the bike wont recharge a low battery ..... it needs to be on a charger for an extended period

You have to ascertain if the battery is just needing a proper recharge or its no good, before u can move on to diagnosing other problems u may have.

    11.8 is ordinary.

do a battery leakdown test.is the battery new. ?if it is a yuasa was with bike when sold and needs left shoulder treatment.what brand of battery as batteries aint batteries.

charge on a self regulating charger as they can be cooked easily.
