    hello again,
so, my XS250 is together and registred. Now my issue is, starting the bike is very hard, it needs ~20 kicks when cold and ~5 when warm. Other than that, it runs great, nice idle, nice throttle pickup, good power (for a 250 I would say).
Idle mixture is set (checked with spark plug picture). Spark plugs are new. Coils are not new, but I measured them against the specs from the repair manual, they are good.
What should I look for, or what should I check?
    Thanks, Andy

Sounds a bit like it is lean. Have you checked the float height of the carbs? Maybe raising the height a couple of mm will help with the starting.

Do you mean you have set the mixture to the factory setting or that you have used the appearance of the spark plug to determine correct mixture at idle? The former is okay and the latter is not. Use the factory setting or set mixture by ear.

I checked the float hight against the manual. But I could try, so raising the hight would mean, from the stock 26mm to 25mm or so, correct?
I have set the mixture screw to factory specs initially, tuned by ear and checked with the spark plug. I did not really adjust that much and it did not make a difference in the starting ability.
    Thanks, Andy
