Hi all. I am very new to the site and for that matter very new to 250cc motorcycles. My last 250 was my first bike, Ducati 250 MK 3 in around 1968. Since then I have owned and ridden many road bikes over thousands of kilometers. My current large bike being a BMW R1150RT. My question today is, is there any advantage, or does the technology of 250cc carburation bikes even allow for at least temporary modification to fuel injection?

I've been keeping myself occupied reading and scheming and planning an EFI conversion - it is an absolute rabbit hole which I willingly went down

One thing that I found which is of huge benefit, now many OEM ECU/ECM's which control engine and fuel injection can be tuned and modified - check here for a list

If you were to give serious consideration to EFI, I would likely start with the ECU/ECM from a suitable configuration 1, 2 or 4 cylinder and it's entire loom and as many sensors, injectors, coils, relays etc as you can get from a wrecked bike and transplant it.

This is a big discussion, but the more I read, the more feasible it seems, finding a wrecked donor bike is my next step

It sounds like a very challenging albeit worthwhile consideration even for a single-cylinder bike. For the moment I will be looking at how my small investment goes using carburation I think. Cheers George.
