Well, at least you thought about it. It would be much easier to do the trip with two people sharing the driving.

I actually thought you were further away. It's just under 1,200km for me currently, but it's going to be much worse when I have to come from Tassie!

I was really hoping to finish fabricating a frame to secure the one-piece and one-seat rear section, but I've run out of time, so it will be the old normal rear piece. But, here's what it should look like when it's finally ready...

Well, it has been a while since I have been rained out, but that's the story from Gunnedah. They cancelled race day because of heavy rain this morning, but it's been sunny since lunchtime!

On Monday I checked the weather forecast and it all looked okay for Gunnedah. In fact, cloudy is good as it cools the air down and it's more comfortable for the racers and spectators.

    Weather.JPG

I arrived in Gunnedah Friday night and I wasn't too hopeful after all the wet weather I had driven through to get there and everything was pretty wet!

Saturday, was a glorious day, but a little muggy. Pete's race bike wasn't ready yet, but he brought his street bike along, so we had 3 members of Team 2fiftycc show up including Murdo, who was having his first outing since his accident. Pete had geared his street bike down (17T to 15T front sprocket - 428 chain) and also added an after market TCI unit. He had run a 9.97 PB on his street bike previously and he was optimistic of running quicker and faster with his new setup. I too had gone with lower gearing (14T to 13T front sprocket - 520 chain) in an attempt to go a little quicker. The Chief, while unable to run, did show for morale support and a chat. As you can tell from the clouds behind us, there was an ominous feeling that water was close.

    Murdomobile.jpg

Saturday finished with yours truly dropping his bike while pushing it to the staging lanes. Pete managed to run a new PB of 9.78 and Murdo ran a 9-something on his very first run back and finished with a bunch of mid-9's...good work mate. The Chief and I raced back to Tamworth to steal a piece from his ZXR250C drag bike for me to repair my damaged bike. We set up camp and I made all the necessary fixes to my ZXR, fired her up and charged the battery. We then settled down for a few drinks, a meal and some chat. The Chief stuck around until late and then drove back to Tamworth (he must have known something). As usual, a good night was had by all and nothing beats an open fire and cooking outside. Special note about Pete...I'm now calling him the human Swiss Army Knife! Every time I thought we were stuffed, he came to the rescue. As an example, dopey me brings along a bottle of Red Wine, but I didn't realise it had a cork until I pulled it out for us to have with our carnivore dinner. Pete says 'I've got a bottle opener' and he did. He really does come prepared! The fire was great and the lightning show mother nature was putting on was worth a round of applause.

    fire.jpg
During the night, I awoke to the sound of rain drops which quickly turned into a heavy shower. I went back to sleep and was awoken at about 7:30 by Murdo suggesting that we should head home. I had hoped the rain was a passing shower, but it had hung around and everything was drenched. Pete had already packed up and gone home and Murdo was fully packed and ready to go (to McDonald's). I quickly got sorted and we headed off.

    Rain.jpg

There was a chance the showers would pass and the track would dry, but I think the TDRA (Tamworth Drag Racing Association) decided it looked terminal and people should be allowed to get on with Mother's Day instead of waiting around and hoping for a miracle.

Am I disappointed? Of course, but what can you do. Rain is drag racing's Kryptonite and that's about it. I'll spend a few days with Murdo and think about heading home. After all the BS from 2020 and the zero racing I did, I am hopeful of attending all the rounds of the TDRA 2021 season, so see you guys in August.

Big thanks to the Chief for his generosity and assistance helping me get my bike running for Sunday's racing.

Yeah, VIC just closed its border with NSW, which means I can come into NSW, but I have to quarantine for 14 days when I re-enter VIC...never going to happen. On the plus side, this should all be over by the time the drags come around.

I thought they might cancel. More time for Pete to get his new bike sorted, and Grey to get his running and ready. :D

Benaraby (near Gladstone) is having an all bike round on August 7, but the premier won't let you poisoned southerners cross the border. So really I am just rubbing it in... Sorry.

Queen Palaszczuk is in Japan mate. We should be right to sneak over the border after we slip the cops a couple of lobsters to look the other way.

Only Pete (with MC-19) and myself (also MC-19) represented the 2fifty group. Others were R1, CBR1000, Triumph 900 and a Hogley. The timing lights blew the circut board after the first run and the rest of the time the club just ran heads up grudge racing. Pete did best of 9.3 and my best of 9.7 for our twelve runs. I must admit I wasn't trying that hard with the lights not working and no eliminations. Weather was good and track fine.
